I would not go sli with an amd cpu, stick to a strong single card.

Well this is true to a certin extent only-For multi-gpu its always better to run a Intel cpu you will get more Fps, But thats not to say you cant run sli or crossfire on a Amd based system of course you can. Most of the times the diffrence will be 10 fps sometimes more or less depending on the game. When you factor in the price it costs to build a multi-gpu system intel vs amd the diffrence is HUGE!

    1) Intel based system- $ 250 i7 4790k plus $ 200 board your looking at close to $500 with tax Vs

    2) Amd Fx 8350 $150 plus $80 Msi krait edition motherboard = $230 less then half the cost of the intel based system! Is it worth losing 10 fps for saving half your money?! You can be the judge of that urself.

If you got the money and dont care of course go with Intel, what i am trying to say is Amd can do everything intel can at a Fraction of the price.

If that is what you wanna believe regarding multi gpu, go for sli on an amd fx 6300 at 4ghz, or that other amd apu.

I like how he purposefully quotes the upper end of the spectrum for the Intel (Devil's Canyon) option. I mean, it's not like you could opt for an i5 and buy a cheaper Z series board. In fact, I'm almost certain I imagined seeing bundles at Micro Center that include the 4690K and a Z97 board for under $300.

How about the 380? Makes for fairly decent middle ground between the 960 and 970. I honestly feel the 960 and below are poor value for money, if you're going nVidia, definitely just look at the 970 and above.

    Not your imagination.

They have several k series bundles varying with price too. Not at bad prices either.
4690k bundles starting at 300 up to 360 usd.

Those prices make me drool, micro-center should expand in the EU. They would easily kill the competition.

That is a misleading statement though. it can't do everything, as framerate number is a part of everything.

the fx6300 cpu you have can't keep min 60 fps in an older game like battlefield 4, in cpu limited scenarios, even with a single GPU, so multi gpu on that kind of CPU is a waste of money.

Yep, I upgraded my MB & Proc last year with a really good bundle from Micro Center but had to upgrade before Devils Canyon came out due to my MB died so I have a 4670K currently. Now it's time to upgrade the HD 6800 as it is very long in the tooth.

Well Tk not to be rude or anything- But 1st of all I would NOT go sli on either of the setups I have at this point but that does not mean amd cant do it.

At crippled framerates yes. It would run if that's what your asking. Anything cpu limited would suffer the most. Amd cpus are not what they used to be. I happily ran sli on socket 939 cpus.
