After RE6, it's shocking that this one looks so damn good. But, does look awesome. I'm excited for an Resident Evil game once again.
In case anyone doesn't have a ps4 or can be bothered, this looks like a full playthrough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAdJiH2RkuM
Looks awesome....first person is a welcome change.......imagine with VR!!! With Alison Road gone (?) there was only Visage and Outlast 2 to satisfy my horror game interest....glad we have another contender
Cannot wait for horror vr to get sued for someone having a heart attack, panic attack, etc. You know it is bound to happen at some point. There already been people in the games industry that have questioned the wisdom of bringing horror games to vr. And due to the litigious nature of our society i gotta agree.
I never finished 6 either. But, I thought 6 looked pretty damn bad from it's first announcement. This one looks fantastic. And for the first time in a LONG time I'm really excited for a new Resident Evil.
So, Capcom have commented. The full game is in first person. The development team and director played as many FP survival horror games they could get their hands on. Titles like Outlast and Amnesia. They then decided to do the opposite. There will be combat, ways to defend yourself and fight back. But, they said players should not expect a lot of gunplay. Also, the demo is not from the final game. While there will be a farm house setting, this is not it. The final release will also feature an entirely new main character. It's said it's set after the events of RE6. But, it's not sure if it has any ties to the previous games, or if it's just a new game set in the same universe.
So glad you asked. Masachika Kawata commented... It's the next official entry in the series, and is tied to the over-arcing storyline of the RE universe. But, it's also it's own thing. It features NONE of the pre-existing characters. And, players can go into RE7 without having played any of the previous games, and still get the story. Though, players that have played all the previous games will get much more from it. Also, I've seen a LOT of people commenting that RE7 is only in first person because of the overly positive response of PT. Well, Masachika Kawata commented on that as well... kind of. The game officially started development in early 2014, but planning started after RE6's release in 2012. And, going first person was one of the first decisions they nailed down for the new design. When the game went into development in early '14, it was first person from day one. PT releasing in Aug 2014 was just a funny coincidence. But, I'm sure it's success just help cement the team's feelings about taking RE7 in a similar direction.
Agreed. Honestly, I found E3 a bit disappointing this year. Bethesda's showcase was kind of meh. The Croteam announcement just annoyed me. FWH showed a lot of the same Shadow Warrior 2 stuff. There were a couple things that I like, and Giantbomb's E3 coverage as usual was a lot of fun. But, RE7 was easily my favorite announcement. Got me hyped for the next game. It's on my wishlist on STEAM and I can't wait for the first of the year.
was going to play the demo on the ps4 but alas... need playstation plus to get the access to the demo.
Already played the demo and i can´t say i was impressed by it... It feels too much like other first person survival horrors and nothing like RE... Basically the demo consists of walking around a creepy old house, collecting some items and solve some easy puzzles... And some easy and obvious scares... Very cliche and without anything different from other games. The only thing i liked was the graphics, very good... It looks like RE peaked at the fourth game and went downhill from there...
The full game will feature combat, weapons and ways to defend yourself. It will also feature puzzles in the style of the original game. Healing herbs. They said this demo was only meant to showcase the graphical style used, and the atmosphere they would be aiming for. Personally, the fact that it doesn't feel like RE... is a good thing. Specially after the last entry. And even RE5, which is a good game... but... it's not really a good RE game. A new direction was the best thing they could've done for this series.
