    Hi all ,

after a "meh" period in my life (GTX680 o/c'ed to 1306mhz) finally decided to jump on the ati train once again.... (former proud owner of 2x4870x2) and swapped the GTX680 for an ASUS HD7990.

Great specs , solid build , massive performance gains on titles such as BF4 , and all that out of the box...

Had to undervolt it due to heat issues , after 20 min and a couple of bios flashes it was all done , cool n' quiet at 1000mhz and 1.114v (85c)... was also stable at 1050 and 1.155v (95c) with very little performance gains. Will update those as soon as i drop a waterblock on this baby.

Everything went great until i tried ARMA 3.....
maximum GPU utilisation 59% on both cores with 14.7 RC1 drivers.
When i increase the view distance it goes as low as 20% !!!

and here we go again , the never-ending journey to the crossfire scaling heavens....

What version of drivers would you recommend ? or even bios edition ?

any tips on the ARMA3 settings ?

And one last thing... I noticed that the "grass" looks awful compared to the nvidia , its like "fabric".... . Is that a physX issue ?

    thank you folks !

am i the only one here with a 7990 ? lol

could really use some help.. i am under the impression that my system is suffering of cpu bottleneck..

Crossfire scaling is great in most games, better than SLI. ARMA 3 is a badly optimized game, also it mainly relies on cpu. Put it this way, there's no pc out there that will play it smoothly all maxed. Or even with lowered settings.

    Thanks eclap ,

what driver version are you using ?

i'll delid the 3770k and try again next week..

interesting pc monitor btw... would you recommend it ?

I'm using 14.6 something driver, the one before the 14.7 RC1. Monitor is great, highly recommend it. Check out the Qnix thread in the monitor section, quite a few gurus use it. And good luck with getting ARMA running well.

Im on Rc1 driver, cfx scaling was awesome. One of my 7850 died over the weekend. Only game I truly had cfx issues with was NFS Shift 1. Horrible flickering.

From what I have read is Arma 3 is a mess performance wise. 7990 on water is something wicked. Both of my 7850 were on water.

Nothing to do with crossfire scaling, it's called a cpu bottleneck due to horrible game optimization. Overclock your cpu as much as you can.

Hi, I have the card...running 14.6 drivers. In Arma3 I get from 30-70 fps depending on the scene rendered. I can second that the game is heavily dependent on the CPU.
I have also low-ish utilization of the GPU (65%-75%), I'm running the game maxed out at 2560x1600.
My saving graze is the 4770K @ 4.5 , else Arma would be like dragging my ass through the swamp :)

with latest catalyst , i get like 99% utilization when running single core gpu , and 35-55% when running dual core.

the funniest part is when utilization drops to like 15% when you move around and then goes back up when standing still...

cpu issues.... what did those guys have in mind ? 7ghz liquid nitrogen cooled cpus ?

Think they did some bad calls early on in the engine development. Also Arma does a lot of simulation that is taxing on the CPU, and they need to improve their threading as they have tied to many functions to one tread...and you this is where some of the bottlenecks come into play

But yeah, you need a 7GHz CPU to run it :bolt:
