I just upgraded to windows 8.1
after a long search i finally found the latest drivers for my sapphire radeon hd4850 512mb.. the catalyst 12.6 (tried with 13.1 but didn't work).
It's a bit better but still doesn't go in full resolution and I see the video pretty laggy, even just for youtube!!

Is it a problem with my vga (comatibility with 8) or should i look at something else?

    WIth wind7 was working great

    here is my config tho: Intel Core2QUAD Q6600, Asus P5K-PRO, Corsair 4GB, Sapphire-Radeon 4850HD VaporX 512MB, Corsair 550W, ZeroTherm Nirvana, WesternDigital 500gb (Windows 8.1)

    Uninstall the driver in safemode,

you can install the new driver version in normal mode.

    Install the whole pack.

BF4 is a modern and demanding game, but the HD 4850 should run it ok if the settings are low enough. It does after all scale down all the way to the 8800GT.

    Yes that is very normal.

Your card is from a couple generations back, so don't expect to get high framerates or no lagg on the new generations games.

The 4850 was picky with drivers even in it's day. I remember the issues mine had "fondly". So I doubt it's related to 8.1.

It actually worked on 4870 and 13.1. Will probably work with 13.9 as well.
