Samsung 950 pro Anyone received their Samsung 950 pro m.2 yet? I prerodered here in Norway when they announced, and the shops gave 25 October as the date. But still no shops have got it in stock yet.
Finally it is sent from the shop. Will hopefully have received it to the weekend. Looking forward for a fresh install and benchmarks.
Dang. Well got it installed. And of course my z97 chipset could not give me the speed i wanted. Only got about 800 of the 2500 So i have started to look for a solution. I will first try this cheap china riser card http://www.dx.com/p/wbtuo-desktop-pci-e-x4-to-key-b-m-2-ngff-ssd-key-m-ngff-m-2-ssd-adapter-riser-red-365937#.Vj9JHPmrQuU , ordered it today. If that do not work i will have to start to look for a socket 1150 board with full 4x m.2 support. Not prepared to switch out my 4790k yet. I would like to test out https://www.asus.com/Motherboard-Accessories/HYPER_M2_X4_MINI_CARD/ , but i found no shop that sell that in europe. (the shipping cost from ebay was just to high, we got some stupid import rules when the prize is over 350nkr with shipping). Anyone else tried it? Or know of a china shop with low cost shipping that sells it?
Well, using this beast since 1 week now on a Asus VIII HERO motherboard and it's simply amazing. Blazing fast... got the 512GB version. Any tweaks out there? Drivers, firmware? The Samsung Magician software needs an update asap...
Got it installed on the riser. Got more speed, about 1400. Still not what it should be, but at least double the speed i got using the native m.2 slot. Must be my mb that is just to old. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=TTNadDRLdFNPLXk5b3RhazlnLVdxYXJ0dmtGSVZB https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=SXZJc01xdjg5YVJsRFk4OEcwRTZWZHZpbkNyVnVn
Do you have the riser card plugged into a PCI-E 3.0 slot or a 2.0 slot? If the slot it is in is only 2.0 this will hamper speeds. Edit: I think this may be the case if your siganture is correct. According to their website, the Asus Z97 Deluxe only has 2 PCI-E 3.0 slots, which you are using for your SLI setup. The rest are only PCI-E 2.0. Expansion Slots 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8) 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode) *14 x PCIe 2.0 x1
Yepp, that is the problem. So i would have to remove one card to get the full speed. I guess i am good for now and with the next generation of gpu's, i will buy the top card instead of using sli. edit: To be sure, i am going to remove one card and test it in the second 3.0 slot. If still not full speed, i will have to start saving so i can change mb,cpu and ram next year when broadwell-e arrives.
It got better, but not so much that i will ditch my sli. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4a6UlBrtgp0b3pVQWJFeG12TGM/view?usp=sharing (Btw, can you see the pictures? Have some problem inserting pictures into posts)
I cannot see the image embedded in the post, just a broken image icon. I have looked at the image in the link though and the results look a lot better. I think those speeds are more or less that maximum that the drive is rated at It makes sense to stick with the SLI for the moment as you have decided. When you upgrade in the future though, either to a single card or a motherboard with more PCI-E 3.0 lanes, you will be guaranteed a speed increase with your 950 Pro :cyclone: I must say I am a tad jealous though, I am still waiting for stock to become available in the UK, I've had mine on pre-order for a few weeks now. I cant wait for it to arrive!
