Why can't you resize screen when using 1080p/24Hz with nvidia?

I'm using my 60" sony HDTV as a monitor with an 8800GT. I can resize the screen to fit the TV when using 60Hz but when playing back movies I set it too 24Hz becuase it looks a lot smoother. However the drivers don't have the option to resize the screen when 24Hz is selected. I've tried a few different driver versions and none have this option. Is there some reason for this or a driver that allows it?
