Hi there, Currently I have a XFX 7970 with DVI-D connection to my monitor a Benq xl2411z. End of this month I am planning on upgrading to the new RX 480 GPU; however, these do not have DVI-D connector; only Display port. How can I connect my monitor to it? Does an adapter work for this? Or the below cable? http://www.allekabels.nl/displayport-kabel/4473/1077504/displayport-naar-dvi-kabel.html http://www.allekabels.nl/displaypor...displayport-naar-dvi-kabel-professioneel.html Or this adapter: https://www.google.nl/shopping/prod...d=0ahUKEwizhtu2prnNAhVGVxoKHbANAekQ8wIIvwIwAQ Thanks! Cheers,
1st one no. 2nd one will probably get you to 120Hz. Manual to 3rd one does not say anything of importance what would indicate that it can pull more than 1920x1200@60Hz.
My Fury card came with an DP to DVI-DL adapter. I'll probably come bundled with one of those I believe.
Don't bother with adapters, they mostly designed for 60hz. Its still unofficial, but some vendors might implement DVI port to 480. Also, once 480 hit the market, don't expect it to be $200. Compare price with 1070 in your region and consider getting 1070 if affordable. And performance wise, you want single 1070 to stabily deliver 144 fps on HD resolution. Do not go crossfire 480, there enough people suffering from poor sli/crossfire support. Single 1070 will be better choice than crossfire 480. EDIT: in some CPU heavy games (TF2, Starcraft2, Battlefield4,etc...) your CPU might be the reason you not reaching 144 fps with vsync on. If you playing Battlefield4, try dropping video settings to lowest with HD resolution and see if you can reach 144fps. (I think 2500k CPU will hit the limit on 64 players server...) Good luck!
My BF4 with Old Driver Multiplayer - Lancang Dam (64-man; Everything maxed except Deferred AA): W10 - 15.200.1023.10 1080p: 101~146 fps (74% GPU utilization) 1440p: 87~128 fps (96% GPU utilization) 2160p: 58~75 fps (100% GPU utilization) So, yes, there is some CPU limitation on 1080p for Fury X. But with RX-480, it remains to be seen.
Probably be able to get a custom 480 with the DVI, like the custom Asus Fury Strix, as AMD have said the pin-outs are there for it, so its up to the AIBs, if they want to add them.
