That's what happens when you turn away from the people that made you and run towards consoles!

I hope they don't go bankrupt and/or get bought out but I can't help but imagine what Crysis 2 & 3 would have been like if they had been PC only...

Ubisoft will buy it and magically a game/engine that ran fine and blew everyone else away graphically on a 2GB GPU will need a minimum of 4GB of VRAM, SSD, and 16GB of RAM

    :)

I hope not. I haven't cared for their last couple of games but I loved Far Cry and even Crysis 1 was okayish compared to the trash coming out lately. Last thing we need is a Ubisoft/EA duopoly.

    Some of those as well
Egads, I hope not. The Cryengine is a work of art - shame that Crysis 3 had such an amazingly sh1te story.

I hope they ride it out. We don't need another closure/take over.

It's a good part of it. From what I've read they have made less and less money with every release since they moved to consoles.

They were supposed to make buckets of $$ when they went console though. :p damn pc pirates killing sales grumble grumble, crytek was huge on blame pirates for sales and whine piss and moan about it.

And there are more games being made on cryengine now than ever really so if they cannot make a buck fire their accountant.

Looks like Crytek will have to close shop to some of its studios. I believe they have 8 worldwide. Reorganize the company's infrastructure and restructuring. I think Ubisoft did something similar back then to cut costs when financial times were thin.

I'm really sorry to see this, but I guess it was a bad karma to Crytek (PC gamers know why) + Crytek's really bad business strategy. Sad also because I will be on vacation somewhere on beach on Jun 30.2014 without anything portable and strong enough to play C2 MP. That day is the last day of (ofiicial) Crysis 2 multiplayer because EA is going to shut down all remaining Gamespy based servers.
At the end it was inevitable, big fish eats small (sick) fish... :(

They should have listened to the gamers who are supposed to buy their games.

EVERYONE hated the mutants in FC1 and the bloody ALIENS in Crysis. They had plenty of time to make a better Crysis/FC title, but chose to do either repetitive or static/boring graphicdemos instead.

Quality is the way forward, not eye candy. Not even on consoles.

They seemed to create a really bad niche for themselves in terms of a financially sustainable business model, ask the average gamer what kind of games Crytek make and the answer is probably, visually stunning, can run at ultra on 5% of PCs in homes, boring, linear and short single player. TBH even though I could probably run Crysis 3 if I tried it I just saw it as a boring linear shooter from what I saw in trailers etc. Maybe with Homefront 2 they can break the mould and if it's as open as it appears I will definitely be buying it.
