Default Dxdiag and CPU-Z contradict each other? - 08-11-2012, 09:37 | posts: 5

Hello!

Just after a quick bit of advice: if I've OCed my 2500K to 4.3, and CPU-Z reports this to be the case, why does dxdiag still report my CPU at 3.3?

(i.e. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz)

Anything to be concerned about, at all?

Thanks!

EDIT: I googled this just then cos I'm silly and didn't in the first place. Appears to be normal Windows behaviour. Please let me know if google is wrong!

Not sure what the norm is, but I thought I'd show you ss's of mine to compare. (Mine is running at 3.8)
Do you have any cpu power saving enabled, maybe it's downclocking or something?

Thanks for posting those screens.

Hmmm, I can't see anything on that shouldn't be. Turned off all the BIOS stuff, power management in Windows all on high. I can't think of anything else, really...

Really? So dxdiag SHOULD report any OC?

EDIT: I should say, programs such as Sandra Lite also report my CPU at 4.3, but something basic like CPU Speed Professional (some generic CPU speed test I just downloaded) report 3.4. Argh! What's going on?

My dxdiag reports my cpu speed as 3.3 and I'm running 4.4.I wouldn't worry about it.
