Hi All!

I am having serious performance issues with my Prophet 4500 in Unreal Tournament. We're talking about some 20fps here.
P3/700@770
Prophet 4500 64MB
Soltek SL65DV motherboard
latest Kyro reference drivers
latest VIA 4in1 drivers
Monster Sound MX300
Win98SE

Even worse, Rune runs much better. I have honestly no clue what to do. Q3A and CS do it just fine.
I thought UT only used D3D and Glide? You can run UT with OpenGL?

I assume so, as ut tried to run from open gl in linux.
perhaps it's d3d it doesn't support, I can't remember

Well, let *me* answer *your* question: it does have both d3d and openGL support. You need to uncheck the option *only show supported devices* to choose.

Nevertheless, I am having performance issues in both d3d and openGL. Any further ideas?
1) 256MB PC133
2) Yup. Several times as a matter of fact, cause I was experimenting at that point...

As I said, the problem only seems to come up with UT, Rune (as we all know with the very same engine) runs fine...
Yes, I updated UT...
latest mobo drivers? agp settings in bios?

You bet that mobo is up to date

Also, AGP is at 2x (all my mobo will give me), and AGP memory to 64, IIRC.

Anyway, don't bother to much since I got a GF2 Ti for USD150. I know I should have stayed with the Prophet 4500, but for my 'puter the GF2 just does better. I do not know why, though.
And since I'm going to sell the Prophet 4500 at around USD120, my loss won't be that high...
Thanks for your help or at least your try

You never said what resolution you were running, though.
