For about the last 2 weeks or so I've been searching around for alternative over clock methods. So far the closest I've come to finding an answer happens to be Throttle Stop which allows you to clock your CPU up to it's Turbo clock indefinitely. With the help of a little digging around a little birdy also told me to set my maximum CPU usage to 99% within the power options of the control panel which prevents the CPU from entering the C0 state that leads to bigger power draws and unmanageable temperatures.
I've seen this being mentioned alot when researching laptops, if you havent seen it already. Intel XTU Dave
