Good evening guys. My question is really straightforward, since when can you have a Normal GTX 780 on an ASUS Republig of Gamers Laptop or any Laptop? Jus asking cause i had a conversation today and a guy ASSURED ME hes got a GTX 780 running on his laptop, and it is not M version. (Even though GPUZ and his V-BIOS say its M) Thanks.
u should have checked on GPU-Z how many cuda cores that gpu has. If its 1536, its a 780M If its 2304, then sounds like a GTX 780 I dont know if there are any laptops with desktop GPU built in. Then again i dont really know much about GPU's when it comes to laptops I've seen some laptops with desktop CPUs in it...
Could be a pci-e thingy, but not sure how well those work without proper drivers. Like this: Like this: or the Thunderbolt one: Big pic: MSI http://images.anandtech.com/doci/5352/DSC_0045.JPG So if its not the Thunderbolt one or the new stuff its probably a DIY one where you need a external pci and powersupply etc... But if GPU-Z did say M and it shows the right amount of cuda then it probably is just a 780M.. lol
well you learn something new everyday , i never knew that one could connect a desktop card to a laptop in that way ,, very interesting , i will have to have a google about this.
