Hi all, After getting much headache, ive used some tweaks that Ive found from scouring multiple forums and found that my fps has been boosted by a bit and the game is much more stable (less stutters etc). My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ Skyrim.ini [Papyrus] (Added the following at the end) iMinMemoryPageSize=100000 iMaxMemoryPageSize=5000000 iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=1800000000 SkyrimPrefs.ini [General] (Added the following at the end) iPreloadSizeLimit=209715200 fMasterFilePreLoadMB=320.0000 iNumHWThreads=X (X=Number of CPU Cores) bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1 [Display] (Added after iShadowMapResolution= ) fDefault1stPersonFOV=90.0000 fDefaultWorldFOV=90.0000 fDefaultFOV=90.0000 [Decals] (Added the following at the end) bDecalMultithreaded=1 I am currently using the following: Catalyst 11.11 11.11 Cap 1 RadeonPro: Oblivion Profile MVPU Mode: Default Though of course it aint entirely optimized for Crossfire yet (gief Caps) I am currently getting anywhere between 80-120fps and it is way more stable for me using the above settings, I hope this helps some people.
Just thought I would let you know that in my skyrim.ini this setting is different to yours... yours iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=1800000000 mine iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=4800000000 Looks to me like yours is set to low? Try this at a higher setting. My .ini is also a modified one I downloaded from nexus.
Ill add more from mine Skyrimprefs.ini Added this To bottom [BackgroundLoad] bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=1 bLoadBackgroundFaceGen=1 bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1 bBackgroundCellLoads=1 bLoadHelmetsInBackground=1 bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1 Under [Navmesh] bUseThreadedMeshes=1 Under [trees] bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1 bShadowMaskZPrePass=1 Under [General] bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1 bUseThreadedBlood=1 bUseThreadedMorpher=1 bUseThreadedTempEffects=1 bUseThreadedTextures=1 bUseThreadedMeshes=1 bUseThreadedLOD=1 bUseThreadedAI=1
Under skyrim.ini in [General] i have uInterior Cell Buffer=48 uExterior Cell Buffer=288 iPreloadsizeLimit=524288000 Also, you should do large adress aware to skyrim exe
Don't tinker with ini just yet, it will make your game crash to desk top a whole lot more, trust me tried and tested, i know what im talking about, had years of playing Oblivion with a heavily modded ini and had to install a 4GB patch to get game working, it made the game look very good but was a Nightmare to work out and fix.
I'm sure some things could make it crash, but those above are safe and it's not as if you can't remove them again... my problem is they don't actually do anything for me... areas that chug, still chug and the odd stutter is still there, regardless of the values used, though none of it is game breaking... so I've gone back to default ini's with just the FOV tweaked [for now] Tweaking the Oblivion ini seemed to achieve more, but I think it was more broken than Skyrim is.
This is all interesting stuff - I might give it a go and see if it helps, but i'll probably wait for a game update and some new ATI drivers before I really try to get immersed in the game too because that's the real problem here I think! Both Bethesda and ATI can't blame me for thinking they have done it again, again, again, again, etc
You can check for more tweaks here and it has a nice overview of what is what.. well kinda >> http://donotargue.com/cfg-makers/skyrim/ << ------------ Here is my final cfg with a help from the above generator and our fellow guru3d member Jonas :nerd: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4164543&postcount=7 updated (23.11.11) Better Performance Skyrim.ini SkyrimPrefs.ini Better IQ Spoiler Skyrim.ini Skyrimprefs.ini shadow map: 2048 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/82globe/2048shadow.jpg shadow map: 3072 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/82globe/3072shadow.jpg
I'm not having any crashes with these tweaks which is good, applied a few texture replacement mods from skyrimnexus site and its crashing for me now, removed the mods and all is fine. Bit annoying since I want to polish this turd before i get into it, the water texture mods seem to be the culprit, has any one else tried any mods? Also 1.2 patch is coming in the next few weeks, praying for a texture overhaul for PC version.
