It's the entire point of the project. It's a AAA quality game on an independent projects budget and price.
Oh, that I didn't know. Thanks for the info. When I saw it last year, I didn't pay attention to it. I only saw a "filmed" scene which impressed me but, without knowing, I guessed it was a PS4 exclusive, because I think I saw it at PSX event.
Yeah, they developed the game with no publisher funding. No kickstarter or outside support. Only their own internal funding. On a team of about 20 people. They've said it's only about a 6 hour game, but considering the amount of time and work they've put into it. The level of the visuals, and the details they've gone to for the depiction of her mental disability... it's incredibly impressive.
got the game since it came out on preorder, The price is so impressive and very competitive for other trashy games with no visuals .
Same. I'm really excited for the game, but I bought it mostly because I feel they deserve the support.
Honestly I think I prefer a shorter experience now. I used to be able to sit and play through a single player game for 20+ hours but as I've gotten older, my attention span has diminished. Prey, Doom, Farcry, and a few other recently released single player games that I've bought, I basically all quit around the 8-10 hour mark. But games like ABZU or even the episodic format like Life is Strange, I find better. The games/episodes basically end exactly when I'm starting to get bored of it. Anyway, I've also been following the development of this game for a while. The combat still looks kind of weak to me but the atmosphere/plot has me intrigued. I already pre-ordered it. The devs seem like the kind of people the industry needs more of too, so I'm glad to support them.
Nice, this will be sub £20 on CDKeys. The devs have said it'll be 6-8 hours long so I'm in around £15.
Ninja Theory make great games (Heavenly Sword, DmC Devil May Cry and, my personal favourite, the underrated gem that was Enslaved: Odyssey to the West) so I have every confidence that Hellblade will be at least good and possibly great. I haven't pre-ordered it yet though, mainly because I'm waiting for it to show up on CDKeys.com or GreenManGaming first even if it is only £24.99 on Steam (if you can save yourself a bit more cash then why not, eh).
I pre-ordered. Mainly, as you said, Ninja Theory are a fantastic and very stylish studio. I've loved all of their titles. And I really love what they are doing here. It's almost out. A little under two weeks. EDIT: Also, ten minutes of gameplay... The sword combat looks great.
I think it can come out quick enough. And, 30 bucks for 6 - 8 hours of gameplay is perfect. There are 60 dollar games that come in at 5 hours. And, I would've gladly paid more for this, given the passion you can clearly see that they have to it.
Looks ok. I'm waiting for reviews with this one before I jump in. Though, it seems a nice filler while waiting for Uncharted's new game. And it is something to finally play on my PC
the screenshots from DET are just WOW lots of small spoilers from the levels http://deadendthrills.com/
