(tv) hdmi to (gfx card) dvi - only sound working

    so i connected hdmi (sony briva) to dvi (geforce570)
    i turned on tv using hdmi input and i only get sound on the tv
    i must've brought the wrong cable!?

    fixed the problem. all i had to was "duplicate the display" under multiple displays.
    now i just need to find a extender for this cable since i'm about half a feet short from my tv to graphic card

    DVI can't do sound, can you not just do HDMI to HDMI or mini HDMI or whatever your card has.

    actually my geforce 570 does... i read online only some cards support audio over hdmi

    ATI cards can output sound using their special DVI-HDMI adapter, but I didn't think Nvidia cards could do it. You may need to connect a 2 pin optical cable to the video card, I remember hearing a lot about that with Nvidia cards, but I thought it was to get SPDIF over HDMI.
