X-Fi HomeTheater HD was my long awaited dreamcard so i just wait a bit longer, this card looks the way i was dreaming the card would be, this is awsome
If you look also there is a secondary digital output that can be used for HDMI according to the specifications! Personally, I am very glad they went back to replcable opamps across the board.
OMG Digital out  Never could understand why creative dropped digital out on X-fi cards.. Great news that!!!!
I'm more excited about this than I was for their HD Home Theatre PCI-e card that was recently released! Nice article Rob, thanks very much for filling us all in!
Well, acccording to the spec, the card has a secondary digital output on the card for HDMI. With this in mind that would mean this card will also support HDMI for digital output with HDMI cable and analog output. HDMI high resolution audio and replacable opamps. Nice combination.
Indeed a nice combination and the major selling point for myself (I live in small apartment with no room for TV so I use my computer, Blu-Ray player, 24" Dell, and PowerDVD, for all my 1080p entertainment needs)!
That looks really sweet, definitely a good thing to have upgradeable op-amps for all channels.. kind of like my X-Raider. It is a very nice looking card.. may be my new card down the road. Any word on a launch window or still too early to tell?
Considering the article states that it is an early build and that the board and final design are subject to change.. odds are the final build will look different. You'd be wise to notice it even lacks the expansion slot connector and cover, so its an extremely early sample, more to prove a point that it works than anything most likely. Its a sneak peak of the card anyway...
Why would it only have EAX 4 when it has an XFI chip? Is this some new chip with crippled capability? As far as I know all XFI chips support EAX 5. I know they wouldn't purposefully cripple it to appeal to music/movie lovers, that would be just retarded. *I assumed it had the XFI chip, it in fact doesn't in the pic. Are they going to add the chip later?
I uses a different chip. Gaming effects etc are rendered through software. This is not a crippled chip, it is just not a 20KX DSP as seen on the Prelude or Forte. As I said, it is not aimed at the heavy gamer market. They have the Prelude and Forte for that market. This card is aimed more at the music/modders -headphones crowds..
