What is the most expensive processor u have bought?

Spending £750 on an AMD FX-55 chip only to then bend and break off around 8 pins as it was not compatible with my motherboard! (yes I was pretty newbie at the time).

I literally destroyed £750 worth of hardware in about two minutes!

Only to then have it rubbed in my face as the FX-60 chip was released two weeks later!

The other expensive piece of hardware was a the Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 2.93GHz CPU. It was the flagship of the conroes and I actually did my research this time. Making sure my motherboard supported the chip. I have since been on Intel and never been back to an AMD CPU. The Core 2 Extreme X6800 cost me £745 brand new it had only been out a week before.

Great chip though, I clocked it to 3.4GHz and it ripped through everything I had at the time, and it was awesome coupled with my 8800GTX Ultra

... Until Crysis was released and we all started crying lol

yup i had the X6800 too... unlocked multiplier was awesome back then...also haad 8800 ultra SLI with it

$480 - AMD X2 4400+

3 months later it was $160. (Core 2 Duos released...)

I've never paid more than $300 since. (my girlfriend gave me this 4790K)

Intel Core i7 3770 for ca. 250€.
I know,not too expensive,but I am young so I have not bought many CPUs so far

I did spend $330 with i7 4790k cpu, for my msi z97 gaming 9 ac motherboard.....
but I am plan to get i7-5960x cpu for x99 system build next month!!!
