Hi folks well basically been doing research on my mobo to see if i can replace my 560ti OC with 2 Radeon HD7870 and run them in crossfire but I'm not 100% if my mobo will be able to run it, please can the pro's please help to confirm whether I can or not. specs are: AMD phenom x4 995 3.2 GHz blackedition PNY 560ti OC 1gig Asus M4N75TD motherboard 750w novatech PSU Regards
Do not run midrange cards in CrossFire or SLI. You'd more easily dip below 60FPS and that's where microstutter is present / most noticeable. SLI is somewhat smoother than crossfire as the drivers reduce microstutter (they do not eliminate it). However it generally scales worse than Crossfire. Only if you're heavily OCing those cards would I say it might be fine to Crossfire those 2 cards, but I still advise you not to. Go for a single high-end card with more VRAM, more bandwidth, etc... and you'd have less headache. And if you have the budget for 2 high-end cards in SLI / Crossfire, that'd be workable. That Phenom X4 995 would probably bottleneck the 2 cards as well, I don't know if it would bottleneck one 7870 or one high-end card (7950/7970/670/680).
Thank you for confirming I feared as much but rather get a 100% before making a silly purchase I guess the idea is to purchase new CPU and mobo + 1 HD7870 here are my ideas and what you guys think? http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...ncorei3,i5andi71155socket/bx80637i53570k.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...s/intel1155z77chipset/90-mibht0-g0eay0vz.html https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=ht...amdhd7870series/fx-787a-cdbc.html&h=kAQGUx4JX
yeah that's why i would like to invest in them as I have always been a nvidia fan boy but its time to break the mould and go for radeon now i see they excel and not to mention they are more powerful than 560ti at the same price, if not cheaper.
