After 3 hours of trying to set up the cs server, i jsut gave up. The ip is set to my ethernet card instead of my connection. And the people who i asked did not answer anything, they were dumb or something. Grr, I'm so frusterated right now . I'll try to find a server, or ask someone who knows stuff about this. I'm going to sleep , bye. I just want to take my server and
Hi
You'll need to disable TCP/IP (in Network Settings) for the ethernet card and then reboot your computer! It worked for me, so I think it should work for you too!
Ok

Click Start->Settings->SystemManagement (or something like that, don't know the exact name)->Network->NIC (choose the NIC)-> choose *Connections* (the button next to drivers) and disable the TCP/IP setting. Then restart your computer and everything should work fine again. BTW if you click on Start-> Run... and type winipcfg, you'll know your IP adress!

Hope this will help you!
Is this the PC in which the Internet connection is established ? If so you have two NIC's in it, one for LAN to the other PC and or HUB and one for the broadband connection.

If you can't reach internet then you disabled TCP/IP for the broadband network card, thus the wrong NIC. You need to disable the other one.

If it is the other way around, you have a server and on a client you want to setup the CS server then it will probably flunk out due to a local LAN address like 10.0.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx in this case you need to make sure that the IP is assigned by your ISP or when you have it plug it into a hub and use a static IP.

This message was edited by Hilbert Hagedoorn on 24 Jun 2001 08:58 AM

nope no luck. See, the two 'NIC' u're talking about is 1. My Netgear FA310TX NIC and 2. My DSL Modem. If I disable tcp/ip on either of them, I won't be able to get on the internet. Is there anything else i can do to run my server?
