Hi guys, i have ambient temp of 33-36c(HOTTT) in my room and oc of 4.5ghz with 1.23V on the 4790k, at BF4 i get max 69-74 temp, i've seen it touch 75 for a sec and drops down, temps is +- same across all cores.

Should i countiune to use that? can it degree the chip? thank you!

Well I'm not sure, but the target temperature, at least according to the Intel homepage for the 4790k, is 72.72°C.
I personally don't see anyproblem with slightly above 70°C, but with hundreds of hours under something like +5% temperature, it might wear down your CPU a bit faster.

Are you on air cooling, or h2o?

Somehow it always makes me smile when people use Noctuas :)
Are you on max fan speed? Might give it a try to increase the max used speed just a hint, if you use the stock fan they shouldn't increase much in noise. That should help.

yep i live is at stock 4.0GHZ to 4.4GHZ is awesome on 4790K as room temps are 35 is really hot

Well you might want to consider lowering clocks if you go with 4.6 like in your profile, but if 4.4 work for you, you might as well downclock to stock to keep your CPU just a little longer :)

That does seem a bit high but I wouldn't be overly concerned. That's air + Haswell/Devil's Canyon for you. I just got my 4790k (4.4ghz @1.2v, haven't overclocked it yet) and I'm hitting mid 70s while Prime95 stressing, but I'm using a Corsair h80i with AS5. How long ago did you do the install? Your TIM may still need to cure a bit. It made a 10c difference for me under load once it finally cured, which was a day or two ago.

moab600 honestly consider getting an AIO cooler.

I just upgraded from a Silverstone Tundra TD02 AIO and I was hitting 99C at 4.5GHz 1.24v on my 4770K while using Handbrake to encode a video to a different format!!

While using OCCT linpack mode 90% memory usage, AVX enabled, etc. I was again hitting upwards of 95+C.

I reseated the CPU block a hundred times, and reapplied my trusted IC diamond paste and still no luck.

Just upgraded to an NZXT Kraken X61 AIO and the difference is night and day. I replaced the fans with Corsair SP140's LED fans and kept the thermal paste it comes preapplied with as its pretty high quality stuff they use.

My temps now are sitting at 19-25C idle depending on room temp. And wait for it... 55C full load in OCCT, AIDA64, and Prime95. I swear something must of been faulty with the Silverstone because these temps differences is ridiculous.

Lol. AIO coolers aren't inherently superior to air ones. It just sounds like you were expecting too much from your old cooler. The new Noctua NH-D15 has the lowest temps of any cooler period excluding custom water.

I've been getting to know my i5 devils canyon over the last few weeks, and for what it's worth they do (once OCed good) produce a lil heat, and in gaming you may see a core or two in the 70s even in autumn.
i wouldn't worry, i'm running over 1.4v through my gal currently and she loves it. :)

basically any concerns then it's delid time.
if she was running into the 80s then delid time but not in 70s.
    that's how i'm thinking.

Well the Noctua DH 15 is the best air cooler and from test i've seen, it could be 6-10C cooler than mine, but i don't want big air cooler atm. i guess i wait till summer fade away.
