So i OCed my gpu, and i'm making it run like a dog in the yard. You know how we do. I've got +150 on core and +850 on memory on my GTX 1060 without touching the voltage. And it's running stable and doesn't go above 65 degrees celcius. But what i can't see is the VRAM temperature, so my question is, can it be destroyed by this OC? Or does GDDR5 doesn't run that hot?
No you can't destroy VRAM. The chips themselves only use a few watts each at most. Only by overvoltage could you damage them but you can't anyways. They would artifact before any damage would occur.
Check out OCCT - has a built-in Stress test for the GPU for testing out your OC, I might be remembering wrong but I am pretty sure you can configure it to stop the test if any errors are detected meaning your OC is not stable (VRAM cannot handle etc) EDIT: A lot of folks here swear by Afterburner, I've not used it so I wouldn't know if it has stress-testing / error detecting features builtin to it but I'm sure someone with better knowledge than I can jump in and add to that ...
