Looking at replacing my aging HD4870, So far I've narrowed it down to three cards. I am mainly looking at the R9 270/270X but am not sure on brand, the 270x is powercolor but the price is right at $164, the 270 OC is ASUS and is $169. I have owned a couple ASUS cards and they have never failed me, my current 4870 is ASUS. I have had a couple powercolor and had mixed experiences with AMD driver compatibility (Radeon 7500). My third choice would be an ASUS GTX 750Ti OC which is also $169. I do not want to exceed $200 after taxes. Should I go with the powercolor 270x or the ASUS 270 OC...or go the Nvidia route? I am just iffy on the powercolor brand that's all. ncix.com/detail/asus-radeon-r9-270-oc-18-92748-1242.htm ncix.com/detail/asus-geforce-gtx-750-ti-33-94339-1242.htm ncix.com/detail/powercolor-radeon-r9-270x-1180mhz-ec-103516-1242.htm
This one's going to be significantly faster than either of those: http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-radeon-r9-280-oc-0b-98788-1242.htm
From the choices you've listed the 270x is the fastest. I haven't used Powercolor in a while, but from memory the only "issue" I had with my card was it was a non-reference board (7850) and was voltage locked.
If the 270X uses a reference design PCB, I'd go for it. If not, go for the Asus 270.... And that card exceeds his budget of $200 after taxes.
Leaning towards the ASUS but still pondering. The powercolor 270x is almost 200mhz faster. Even if it is voltage locked I don't think that would bother me as I don't overclock.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127745 I would honestly wait for the GTX 960. But this GTX 760 should beat out the gtx 750ti and whatever AMD offers below two hundred dollars. Factory over clocked, twin frozer, and performance that slightly trails behind the r9 280.
Ended up going with the 270x devil. I would have liked a 280 or 760 but they would be closer to 250 which was over my budget. The 270x came in at $190 after tax, then I get my $30 rebate still too.
look into a sapphire 270x from what I have seen recently I believe sapphire may have really great AMD ATI graphics cards, I'm unsure how the price compares to other manufactures but just pick the one you like the best from sapphire and then google search the model you select and see maybe what tigerdirect, newegg, and amazon has it for price wise.
