G'day All, I am quickly running out of space on my 1TB Samsung 850 PRO ssd, which I use almost exclusively for gaming (it also has 3dmark). I have about 80Gb left. I "could" free up some space if I got rid of some games, but I'd rather not! Currently I can purchase the PRO ssd for $559, or I can get the 850 EVO 2TB for $829. Not sure which one to get. $829 is a fair bit for an SSD. Appreciate all suggestions. Thanks, Nate.
Hi Nate I would personally get 1TB 850 EVO or Mushkin Reactor 1TB and many others if you want SSD Other option is to get SSHD or fast HDD like are WD Black and many others,my games are on normal HDD plus lots of assets I've on other HDD from I load my files for SW like samples and my scratch disk is too normal HDD Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
This is what I do. I keep the main multiplayer games I am playing on my SSD and install the rest to a spinning disk. There are some guides out there for moving Steam games so you don't have to redownload them.
850 EVO is good for games. You just said you don't like uninstalling games, which ought to mean you aren't continuously reinstalling them either, so the slower continuous write speed doesn't matter that much. Its read speed saturates SATA3, after all.
