It is time to share a thing or two about the new AMD ZEN based processors. Meet RYZEN and more precise information and specifications in this editorial. Last week in Sonoma we got briefed on a number of things, time to share our take on it. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/editorial-amd-zen-is-now-ryzen-processor,1.html
This looks exciting. Now if the pricing is sensible, I'll be upgrading to Zen. Also will wait for overclocking results and game performance and to see what boards will come out for the platform. Here's to the waiting game
AMD just murdered the entire Intel lineup (except for the 10core) and turned my 1000$ 5960x into just another cpu. Intel is watching with Dismay!!
So to sum it up it's faster than intel in rendering and transcoding, but for games we didn't see any FPS not on the BF1 with TitanXP or with the new VEGA GPU playing star wars.... this seems shady. Also for saying you are launching Q1 and you don't have boost clocks yet... seems strange. Also no price and you have Q1 launch.... shadyyyy I hope it kicks intel ass in games and the price is lower.
damn I'm tired like crazy but could not resist to not see Lisa's presentation and realised that now my teeshirt is wet:nerd:. It really is a neat and smart CPU and I just have the impression that AMD just iterrate Intel line-up obsolete! I'm damn sold and looks like I'll need to change also my GPU next year....I mean in 17.01!! They cannot bring this new CPU and GPU soon enough!! Thanks AMD, these were the best spent 43 Minutes of year 2016 so far!!!
It was between 60-70 FPS on both machines in the BF1 demo, varying with explosions etc... I do agree that the VEGA showcase was nearly a waste of time as far as learning anything goes.
We need some pricing on these. Beating out a $1000 CPU is impressive, but if it isn't significantly cheaper than there isn't much to get excited about. Are we going to see 4/8 or 6/12 variants at the $200-300 level?
Very well spoken Dr. Lisa Su..and she kept so calm throughout the whole presentation... And i must say that there is a slight better smoothness on the amd cpu compared to intel when battlefield was shown giving a better gameplay experience.. Amd is actually winning intel at the moment. Concratulations and keep it up... I will be upgrading to this ryzen cpu Besides with amd beating intel they are the new king and can ask any price
The 95watt tdp is an intel server cpu killer. skylake-e is very power hungry, skylake-x isn't comming till H2 and intel is not getting 10nm server/desktop parts anytime soon either. Seems like a potential disaster for intel.
I will never believe in test results performed by vendor. Though I hope AMD`s new CPUs will perform the same as competitor`s ones while pricing lower.
So i don't get. Is this sample is example of slowest and cheapest CPU in series? And 95W is just TDP. Still yet to see actual energy consumption in load and in overclocked load. Handbreak is good, but that's just one of many applications. If this is most powerful one, then everything depend on price.
No turbo frequency numbers yet? Sounds like all new features maked Turbo obsolete lol, some features sounds like veryhigh througtput SMT
Yep. Also I'd really like to know how well it does in games that aren't well threaded and in single threaded workloads. That's going to be less and less issue in the future for games but still. Price is a big question mark indeed. If it's not attractive enough many 2600K/3770K users may end up waiting for Zen refresh. However... If the single threaded performance is close to 2600K/3770K (everything overclocked) then octa core zen would be a massive upgrade in some situations. However... The fact that it id beat 6900K in Handbreak (basically x264 encoder benchmark - I'm pretty sure that has not been optimised for Zen yet) is impressive. My mobo is getting outdated pretty quick... Not enough Intel SATA 6Gb/s connectors and no M.2 slots.
Will it run with high end ddr4 like 4000mhz +? Will it overklock high? Will it have many pci-e 3.0 lanes like X99?
