Seems a few people are interested in the 980x/970 Hex Core i7 processor and what it can do for F@H. Curious what other people are getting for times based on thier systems. Might be a good way to see how similar hardware compares to yours!

Here is the setup i'm using. The vcore is slightly above spec, but because of vdroop it is running well below spec under load.

I'm curious what settings you are using iancook221188.

    Here we go:

im at 1.2 volt on both vcore and qpi/vtt with vdroop i think i can go lower the temp are 60c-67c bit hot but im still on the intel tower cooler

just a hint but higher memory clock will speed up folding alot that why im running it a 2ghz im going to try and tight the timings

Nice information and thanks for adding, btw my memory is also running at just over 2GHz, I have a different Ratio than you (2:10 vs 2:12) :nerd:

I noticed to go past the 4.0GHz barrier I needed serious vcore increases. Hopefully you don't run into that problem. for every ~100mhz i needed to up vcore by 3-4 steps. I can get 4.0GHz at 1.2vcore as well. Good luck if you try to climb higher, maybe I'm just missing something I should be increasing instead of vcore at this point.

Let’s go everyone else! Fill my curiosity; at least I’m not a cat so I have nothing to worry about! :book:

Sorry to pull a little off topic but I had a question in regards to the above...
Is there a reason/advantage to overclocking your base clock? I understand why iancook is increasing his BCLK, but you have a 980x and I thought the advantage of having an extreme edition CPU was you could increase your multipliers and avoid having to lean so heavily on the raising of the BCLK to increase your CPU and memory speeds. For instance, I am overclocking my 965 from 3.2 GHz to 4.1 GHz by leaving the BCLK at 133 MHz while using a CPU multiplier of 31 and a memory multiplier ratio of 2:12 to achieve 1600 MHz on my DDR3.

If I understand correctly, you now have your base clock set at 200 MHz, which is what would be allowing you to have your memery clocked at about 2000 MHz with a 2:10 BCLK to memory ratio. To each his own - what ever gets you to your desired speeds... I'm just wondering is there is a reason/advantage to increasing the BCLK when it might not be necessary (or perhaps it was for some reason)...

    Thanks,
    ~ Jeff

Sorry im currently away on my trip so this will be brief. Im running 142x30 for my setup (see my first post screen shots) 2000mhz ddr is not a supported frequency for 133 bclck. So that is why I raised the bclc slightly. It is not running at 200mhz.

    J_J_B ,

Thanks - My Multiplier is really 2:14 in the BIOS but being read as 2:10. Everything seems to report this lower ratio when I get in windows. I can RMA The board, but that brings down my whole computer (which I do work on too) untill the new board arives. I Wonder if its just being mis-read or if there really is a problem with this board too, but with the Memory Ratio. :3eyes:

I don't think I would have noticed this if you had not asked :bang:

Darn... are tools other than e-leet also reporting the lower memory multiplier? If it really is only at 2:10 then your memory is only operating at 1420 rather than 2000. I wonder if there is a BIOS from EVGA newer than what you currently have that fixes this.

I also just noticed that your QPI (CPU Uncore) is only clocking at about 3400 MHz. You would need to have that at 4000 MHz minimum (twice the intended memory data rate) in order to support 2000 data transfers per second on the ram (1000 MHz memory clock). Could it be that your board is intentially falling back from 2:14 to 2:10 because your have the CPU Uncore set too low?

hey JJB when overclock the Gulftown the uncore is ment to be 1.5 X memory clock and on Bloomfield it is 2 X the uncore

Yeah, Sandra Soft and CPU-Z both report the lower frequency, granted I think e-leet is just a reskinned and slightly upgraded CPU-Z.

Sounds like I might have an actual issue... sigh.

I see iancook already corrected you on the QPI issue, so I won't repeat
