In Display/Settings/Riva TNT/Advanced there are two tabs I have questions about.

Direct 3D settings?
1..Automatically generate (how many?) mipmap levels?
2..Auto mipmap method (bilinear or 8-tap anisotropic?)
3..Enable anti-aliasing?
4..Enable fog table emulation?
5..Disable wait for VBlank?
6..Render no more than (how many?) frames ahead.

Open GL
1..Enable buffer region extension?
2..Allow dual planes extension to use video memory?
3..Enable buffer flipping for full screen application?
4..Wait for VBlank after flipping?

and if you could, the "why" for each of these, or a good site that I cannot find that will describe all of these settings, what they do, and how they affect quality of graphics and performance.

thanxz a ton!
Lol!
In the top tight corner of Rt is a question mark. "?"

Press it and then press the setting u want to know more about.
For some settings you must press on the area where values can be changed. ie auto ml.

if yu have other questions after u read the help pleae post it. BUT i doubt it as the help is very nice written.

I guess that is where part of the problem is at. First of all I was not speaking about Riva Tuner, I posted here because I figured that these tweaks someone would know about and could answer for me.

I am using a "tweaked" set Mr.F 1.2 and there are no question marks available.

I also have Riva Tuner, and opened it up and there are not question marks in that either, my version of RT is 2.0.

Next?
1.Mr. F?
You happen to have a TNT/TNT2 card? I only used those drivers for 30 minutes and a Looong time ago but aren't they based on the 2.xx series? And don't be fooled by "tweaked", all that was done was to change the .inf file to activate some settings that can also be changed in RT.
2. The best overall drivers for TNT are 5.32 and for TNT2 6.50. Use these, tweak'em w. RT, and set the LODBias at -0.5. This will give you great performance and image quality.
3.No question mark huh? In the top right corner of the RivaTuner window are 2 signs, a ?, and a x.
Click the ? and then click a setting to know more. If no text appears you didn't press where you should.
4.As to your original question in nvidia CPanel things are even easier than w. RT as they have "right-click help" (i just made up the term so don't flame me ok?). Right click on a option, and a "What's this?" question will pop up. Left-click it and voila.
5.In other news, check the spelling of your sig.

PS I'll mail it in about 1 hour, ok?

    Kakaru2,

yes, nVidia Riva TNT2, got my eye on a GeForce Ti500, but a month or so away, maybe something else will catch my eye by then.

yes, the Mr.F "tweaked" files, the reason I used them was in tests the results showed better frame rates, but will try the 600's that you recommend with RT, and see if any improvement.

thanxz for the assistance, it is 'preciated
River~
ps...fixed "thing"

It' son your way. WinRAR self-extracting archive. 548k with the sfx included. Way better than *.zip when you don't have broadband and when guru3d system doesn't allow file managers to kick in
