I have read many various things over the last year, and I finally got frustrated enough with fiddling to come here and ask the pros.

Using alienware alpha r1 I5. The only output is HDMI 1.4a.

My monitor is an asus 144hz. Dual link DVI, HDMI and Displayport.

HDMI 1.4a is capable of 120hz? I have seen a few photos of devices that are powered by usb that transfer 120hz signal hdmi to dual link dvi.....However, it was on some obscure google search and there was no link provided.

I currently am using some generic HDMI to DVI adapter, and actually running 1080 @ 90hz. I can hit 100hz @ 720p.

This machine, though not capable of running newer titles at a fluid 100+ fps will certainly do less demanding older titles quite well.

Any suggestions to get more HZ out of my setup?

Found: "HDMI 1.4a has the bandwidth to do 2560x1440 at 60Hz or 1920x1080 at 120Hz"
