I just bought another Samsung ssd the 850 pro to replace the 840 pro as my main drive and use it for some games. It has be rock solid with top performance since i got it. Anyway the 850 pro is up and running since yesterday with no problems so far and i was just reading something that made me kind of regret buying it. First of all the ssd firmware it shipped with is EXM02B6Q the one that bricked many ssd's that upgraded from EXM01B6Q. Someone on another forum was so upset after it bricked his drive losing all his data and contacted the tech at Samsung, which said that these drives would fail anyway without the firmware update!!! Does any Guru member own one of these drives since they got released? i really want an answer for how long it's been running for and on what firmware. Thanks..
I upgraded to EXM02B6Q through Magician immediately after it got out; like ... 4 months ago(?) No problems before, nor after the upgrade. Samsung Pro 256GB PS I purposely held back from upgrading manually to Magican 4.6 because of firmware incident reports. My Magician 4.5 still says "You have the latest version of Magician" While Samsung's D/L page has 4.6 version and says: * Notice : Latest version of Magician software is recommended for optimal performance. That right there is my first and only gripe with this SSD.
Thanks everyone the ssd is running just fine and quite a bit faster than the 840. I compared the results of Crystal DiskMark in Hilberts review of the 1tb version with 0% usage and i was amazed that the 128gb that i have outperformed it in some tests with 20% usage. I will post a Crystal DiskMark screen shot later when i can. Just you click on it and you will know what it is...
