recently i built a system i7 4770k asus z97 deluxe motherboard 32 gb 2400 mhz ram 780 ti classified sli 1300 watt psu my question is for 780 ti is an old card but 295 x2 is new i have opportunity to change sli setup to single card 295 x2 i checked lots of sites that different result on testing 4k can anyone help me i have 4 days to return the graphic card.
And get the worst scaling ever. Going beyond two cards on any camp will get you worse scaling. Either go 2 GPUs and drop the AA and maybe some settings to get 60fps min or don't go 4K now. As for the best GPU setup IMO, it's a pair of 290(X). Affordable, unlike the two mentioned setups.
Your GTX780ti's should be able to handle 4k, just turn some settings down like the mentioned AA setting will help the most. Chris
I read over on OC Forums, a guy who has been building CFX systems for decades, he said for SLi, run 2 GPUs, for CFX run 3, apparently that eliminates most of the problems you get with 2 in CFX
Isn't it usually good to have at least 4gbs for gigantic resolutions? That is why I changed my 780's to 290x for the extra gb because I saw artifacts. But if it matters I play on 7680x1080 with 2 290x's and do perfect and ultra on all games. Mid 40's on bf4 100% maxed and without aa and extras I grt 70FPS I think the only game I did poorly at was watch dogs even with a retail updated version.
Artifacts are caused by overheating memory chips, or the chips not getting enough power. Nowhere have I ever heard of artifacts being caused due to a lack of VRAM. I think you are getting aritfacts mixed up with texture flickering/popins. My thoughts exactly.
With your system i would go with a 295X2 plus a 290X, trifre has great scaling...and for sure is far from overkill for a good 4K Experience.
If he claims to have been building CFX systems for decades....nothing he says is relevant.... CFX hasn't existed for "decades".....hasn't even been a single decade yet.....
Stuttering is the lack of Vram. I've had it on occasion in some new games at 1440p. Once the Vram fills up, and if there is way more there than it can process, it has to load/unload more often, and can cause stuttering/freeze frames. Sometimes you can get away with turning down AA values to smooth it out, other times the textures at 2K/4K just surpass the 3GB available on the 780/780 Ti. Then graphics settings need to be turned down. The times I experienced stuttering due to Vram haven't been too horrible, but it has me on my toes as to how even newer games will turn out. Thus why I can't wait to see what an 880 Ti may turn out to be like. I know Nvidia has been optimizing more for 2K/4K to east up on Vram, and it's shown in games like BF4 and Thief.
