After installing Windows 10 Creators Update, I have noticed that Windows Defender had turned itself on even though I already had Norton running. In the past, Windows Defender will turn itself off once it had detected a working copy of an antivirus program so I would just leave it at that and now when I clicked on the little Windows Defender icon, it actually brought up the Windows Defender Security Center and no option to turn it off. Tried as I might, I could not find a way to get rid of it. Appreciated if anyone has any tip on how to remove that. Thanks.
Well, you could always disable the service, that should stop it. Also there are 3 services with defender unless CU changed that. http://www.askvg.com/tip-disable-or-remove-windows-defender-security-center-app-in-windows-10/
Got it, thanks. I'm one of the few who usually have no complains about Windows 10 but I do seriously question their judgement on forcing Windows Defender down on everybody with this current update. :bang: Anyhow, glad I can get rid of it. Thanks for the help everybody.
You sure it's on? Mine says "Your device is being protected" however, under "Virus & Threat Protection" it states I'm using other anti-virus providers...a bit confusing.
First place I checked was going to Windows Defender under Update & Security in Settings and at the time it was showing REAL Time Protection is ON. Now after turning if off, it is saying The settings for Windows Defender Antivirus aren't available... and an option to Turn it back on. I saw it on both my desktop and laptop which prompted me to check.
