Every game I play has a tad better fps than my old 6850 Crossfire but its somewhat low. Comparing it to other benchmarks and 3dmark 11 scores it seems like its underperforming.

In games the GPU load wont even go higher than 50%.

Chivalry is lagging with 40-50 fps and the gpu is stuck on 38% load, so clearly there is some weird limiting issue here.

I tried fiddling with the bios but then the clocks went unstable and jumped from 850 back to 1160 causing even lower fps. I then reverted but its still kinda underperforming but still better.

Is this some weird power limit issue? I already have it maxed to +20% and can't get it farther.

This is the best score I got and its better than the score I got with modded vbios. (1200/1500)

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/5570188? (Default bios, 1150/1500)
    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/5568321?

I did get higher physics score, my cpu did stay at 4.3Ghz and did not throttle. 68 degrees.

What driver are you using? Have you tried other drivers?

I'm on omega catalyst drivers, I tried previous ones 14.9 and 14.7 but it does not change the scores.

Try the 13.12 driver. That's been the best driver for a lot of people.

Alright I will, i'll edit this post later with results.

Tried with 13.12, get the same FPS in chivalry and war thunder.

What about voltages? You just ramped up the clocks? Card is throttling, did you check vrm temps?

With those clocks you should be fast as my 280X but you scores are really low.

Card is not throttling, its actually keeping up the cores and its main temp is 53 degrees in load. Don't know how to check VRM temps.

    Im on 1.2V.

Your futuremark benches are low at least partly due to your cpu. Post heavean 4.0 1080 maxed and valley 1.0 1080 maxed.

I'm at 1.250v (edited with vbe7) cant push more than 1175 before card starts to throttle. Also, VRM's...

Heaven 1.0 skyrocketed through the roof with nearly 60fps everywhere. Which did not happen when I first got the card and benchmarked it. Only difference is windowed which should not matter.

    ^Just now.
This doesn't really help me though since fps in games does not change one bit. This matters more to me than some artificial number.
Will test heaven 4.0 when i'm done downloading it.

No VRM temps on my gpu-Z

You want to disregard futuremark total scores and concentrate on the gpu score in 11 and 13. You are getting a severe penalty with that cpu just at 4.3. Clock it higher if temps allow. That cpu should be fine for a single gpu.

What TK said, check your 3Dmark 11 graphics score and post back.

Could you read? Overclocking the cpu to 4.6 wont magically give me an increase in FPS in games, nor does it increase my gpu usage.

I'm thinking its either faulty or somehow getting throttled but that can't be because its keeping the core clocks.

If you are CPU limited, then overclocking your CPU will increase your GPU usage. The problem with being CPU limited is that the supply of geometric information to the GPU can't be performed fast enough to keep the GPU busy, so it spends some time doing nothing.

    I don't see a 8350 bottlenecking a 7950 sorry. No ****ing matter what.

Good luck op I am going to learn how to read before posting any further. This is why I hardly post on this forum anymore, trying to help somebody and get posts like op.

I'm not trying to be hostile, I may have overcome rude but if you tell me that a fx 8350 is bottlenecking a single 7950 then you're delusional.

Yeah thats the weird issue. In benchmarks I have 100% GPU usage and average scores but games just won't budge above 50% usage.

War Thunder/Chivalry all use about 60% cpu usage which seems about right for 4 cores used and another 2 for background apps.
