I have spent over a thousand on sound equipment.

    1. Xonar ST sound card.
    2. 3 Opamps LME49720HA.
    3. Gold plated cable.
    4. Marantz Amplifier.
    5. More gold cable.
    6 Wharfedale Amber floorstanding speakers.

I think it all sounds bloody good.
And I think thats the only way to go when setting up a pc for sound.
    Soundcard-amplifer-speakers.

    Waste of money

    More waste of money.

Only thing worth the extra costs are gold connectors because gold does not suffer from corrosion which prevents connection issues connectors made from cheap metals very often suffer from after some time.

Yes, it is, yet buying cables which costs a great deal more while providing no audible improvement still remains a waste of money. Being audiophile has noting to do with falling pray to modern day snake oil vendors.

Well, alot about being an audiophile is sort of a waste of money, as you start to pay a whole hell of alot....for very small gaines in performance.

You start to say...well, technically....this is better.

agreed. There's a certain point where bang for your buck stops.

There are good gains to be made up to a certain dollar mount IMO.

Home made DAC --> Home made cable --> Home made amp --> Beyer DT770.

No expensive materials, no esoteric brands, just sensibly designed stuff and utterly astonishingly incredible workmanship.

Wait. Scratch that last one. Still sounds good though :D
