Just thought I'd let people know that the price on the 60GB vertex 2e has dropped quite dramatically recently (from ~£70 to ~£30). Well, for just a little bit more, at least in the states, you can grab a few 120/128 SanDisk and Crucial M4 SSDs. I've seen them around the $80~90USD range occasionally. There is also a Vertex 4 currently @ $80. Good price, I've been running one for over 2 years and its still ace after running 24/7. Cost me 4x the price mind. SSDLife tells me its still got 7.5 years of life left. So far, data written 3.5TB, Read 11TB.
I wish the ocz 3.5" mount let you mount the drive on the other side, then I'd be able to use my hot swap bay lol I'll have to try a different 3.5" mount
I've been running my Vertex 2 for over two years now, still runs like a champ. Cost me like quadruple the price they are now though, lol. That's technology for you.
been running my vertex 2 for two years too till last week when it just packed in no warning or anything.
SSD life span sounds like hocus pocus to me, in my server I have a 64Gb SSD in and I think it is Samsung, 5 years its been on and I have mine craft server running on it I have also steam CSS server on it as well. System is also used for downloading and storage, Windows defrag is on index is on never had a problem no crashing no slowdowns nothing I have 4 of the OCZ Vertex 2s in RAID 0 the max read is about 1088 max write 1052.
If something is crap, its helpful to say why. I want to do blood duty after reading that, feel like cutting myself lol. Use capitals, full stops, commas, paragraphs... Be nice to us !
