Pretty much. For me it's either GTX 1080,8Ti or 1099,9 Supermega 256GB or whatever they come up with 2 months after previous one.

Yeah, anyone who bought the titan for gaming got boned. I was amazed to see the 970 an 980 at competitive price points, when Nvidia is typically unwilling to compete on price (someone from Nvidia basically said that out loud). Maybe its their way of apologizing.

Yea, them lasting longer is a good reason to buy the best of the best, not just because you can claim you own the fastest card for as long as possible :)

I'm still waiting on the next 9700 Pro. I will buy that card just to frame it, and then put 3 in my PC :D.

This card looks nice though, too, but it's no 9700 Pro.

When i look at the past and see this 64 MB or 128 MB card ( but the bus was allready 256bit )... lol... now we are at 4'000 MB or even for the top of the dog W9100 16'000 MB.

no lol thoses was.. Red one reference PCB, need to check the brand ( ATI Logo on the fans ), but one have die under my overclocking attempt. At this period they was no temperature or power limiter, if you was seeing artefacts, the card was dead.. MikeMk cowie, Phrozin remember well this period i think.

Something is sure, if i come back with old gpu's like the 9700, new AMD gpu's is near.

I never understand the flaming that goes on between the fans...

If the above scenario is true, as a self-confessed Nvidia Fanboi and consumer I would be pretty happy. I know that the result would be nvidia working extra hard on their new card and the current cards getting a good price drop. win-win!

I remember what happened with Keplar. And would not like to see that again.

Nothing I'm too impressed with. I'm doing way better with an OC'd GTX 980.

Then the arguments will come along that "well if you OC the 390X then...." But still even then AMD isn't known for huge OC's without a ton more heat compared to Nvidia. So in the end, we don't know how it will OC.

My 7950 OC'd from 840mhz stock to 1100mhz with only a 5C increase in temp using the reference cooler.. Only increased temp 10C pushing it to 1200mhz on the reference cooler.... I get BSoD's wih my 660's with reference coolers at stock clocks if I don't use a custom fan curve....

No, it is only because 980 has 5B transistors and 780Ti has 7B transistor count.
In other words same customer price, much lower area/defect rate. Much lower manufacturing cost.
now R9-290(x) have 6B transistors and see the price r9-290 goes around?
That means GTX 980 can be cheaper than that without nV bleeding money.

Back on Topic, I think santa video may be just series of discounts. And if that is new product, it is netbook with carrizo-l.
But looking again on that video, spreadjoy is in red with dots (AMD) and then I focused at boxes like that under tree. On the left CPU box, on the right graphics card.
    Anything is possible.

    Edit: @GhostXL & @sykozis:
And in past AMD made GPUs at TSMC, may this be GloFo where we know so little, only that they made new carrizo APU much more efficient than kaveri. And that means even iGPU must eats less.
