Hey guys, About 2 years ago I bought a MSI N780 TF 3GD5 Overclock Edition. Back then it cost me 520 euro and it suddenly broke on me a few months ago. I have been offerd a new card the MSI GTX 970 4GD5 they are telling me my card is worth 374,90 now even doh I paid allot more and in my mind the GTX 780 is better. https://www.alternate.nl/MSI/GTX-970-Gaming-4G-Grafische-kaart/html/product/1158971?tk=7&lk=16957 (this they offer me) And I check and my orginal GFX Card is still going for around 500 euro and up so don't know why they are telling me it's worth 374,90 when I have a warrentee. Which do you guys think is better, cause they don't make the Twin Force one I had, but 970 just looks like a cheap option to me.
This. You could try pushing for a 980, but to be totally honest the 970 is superior to the 780ti, especially once overclocked.
What about the graphics perhaps my biggest worry I'd want my games to look equal or greater then the 780 I had. Also yeah I was considering pushing for a 980 in that case it would be this one. https://www.alternate.nl/MSI/GTX-980-Gaming-4G-Grafische-kaart/html/product/1158970?event=search Would a 980 and such all work with a Powersupply of 650 WATT
980 is a nice card, but if I was you I'd go either for 980 Ti or for 970 I mean if you're spending that much money you might stretch a bit and get the big daddy. Or save some and get 970. 980 Ti gets my vote tbh
His old card broke, they're offering him replacement options. Although it might be worth seeing if he can pay the difference in order to get a 980ti. I'm not entirely sure what you mean regarding the visual difference? What you see on screen will look more or less identical when using the same image settings. As for your PSU, a good quality 650W unit is fine for any single GPU solution on the market.
Oh... In that case just get 970 and enjoy the free upgrade. In just about every sense. fps/heat/features u name it, 970 wins Zero money for 970 or € 300 for 980 Ti... hmmm
It's not Zero money its 520 euro for my orginal card and it still go's for 500-600 euro I think I could ask for a GTX 980 as replacement. For the GTX 780 TI I could offer to pay extra hoping they accept it. They have 4 version so I also wouldn't know what to go for. - MSI GTX 980Ti 6GD5 V1 ( link ) 719,- - MSI GTX 980Ti 6GD5T OC ( link ) 739,- - MSI GTX 980Ti GAMING 6G GOLDEN EDITION ( link ) 799,- - MSI GTX 980Ti GAMING 6G ( link ) 739,= I mean the games, will games such as Far Cry 4, Wolfenstein, Alien Isolation and other pretty games still look as great or perhaps even better. Do's it matter that the Memorybus on them is 256bit vs the orginal having 384bit.
They're all going to look as good or better, depending on the options you enable. The 970/980/980ti all being faster than the 780ti, will allow you to enable more options. So in that sense you'll see an improvement. The memory bus doesn't matter, the 9x0 cards are simply more efficient at handling data. Everything about the 970 and up is superior in real world usage. If you decide to pay the extra for a 980ti, just opt for the cheapest non-reference design out of those options. They'll all clock to similar speeds anyway.
yaehh bro push it to GTX 980 if you have extra money get GTX 980Ti (that MSI GTX 980Ti Gaming 6G) would be great..or other chance to get custom 980Ti
if you're playing @1080 the 970 is rather attractive and a very fair replacement. but if you're 1440 or want 1440, i really would consider putting up the money to the TI.
Either you try to go for the 980Ti, or you stick to the 970. 980 doesn't pay off if you want to stick to 1080p or if you plan to invest money in the next 18 months anyway. Imho.
Guess this article never gets old. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...iews/70125-gtx-780-ti-vs-r9-290x-rematch.html 780ti is on par with 980gtx most of the time. Highly oc'd 780gtx too. So much for that.. Thread starter 980ti is the only worthy upgrade, rest is irrelevant.
Pretty old article at this point, there's a few more recent games which favour the 970 over the 780ti. The 970 has better OC potential also. Regardless, the OP is looking to get a broken card replaced by his place of purchase, this isn't really a straight up "upgrade" thread. Although I must admit I'd personally pay the difference for the 980ti over the 970 or 980 if the option was available.
5-6 months old is nothing, there are newest games there. Yes oc'ed 970gtx to max is on par or slightly faster then 980gtx.. but so is 780ti then once oc'ed, and where higher bus width and texture fillrate counts. Just saying, gm204 is nothing special, only here to compete/replace gk110 (2year old chip perf.).. Its not God sent like most of you praise it.
I'll take a 970 clocked at 1400-1500 (which almost all of them can do) on the core over any 780ti on the market personally. Here's a few games showing the 970 (stock) beating or matching the 780ti, with the 980 often having a healthy lead: Witcher 3 Guru3D Performance Review Rise of the Tomb Raider Anno 2205 This thread isn't specifically about an upgrade, it's about RMA'ing a card and getting on par or better performance. The 970 is on par or better when compared to a 780ti, the OP has a 780. PS: Nobody in this thread has claimed the 970's or 980's are some sort of second coming. The only person here even bringing that sort of thing up is you, while trying to push a now outdated Kepler as more than it is. Don't get me wrong, they're still great cards, but they aren't on par with Maxwell the way you seem to think.
There is witcher3 in that review too and no im speaking in general form what I saw across the interwebz. And I know what this topic is about too, don't be so full of it.
