So the Steam version is destined to go to retail instead of only being a free mod... And Happy Birthday Half-life... :hbd:
Has the final release of Black Mesa yet been released? I mean completed, still waiting to finish the final stages which were supposed to come soon.
Not yet. They still have not finished Xen but if the BMS team is asking for a few bucks to support them, I would definitely give it to them.
Me too. I haven't finished playing through it but what I did play brought back good memories of the original, without having to endure really outdated graphics.
I have no problem with them selling Black Mesa on Steam. It's easily worth it, hell... it's better then a lot of official releases. You can really tell they have a ton of respect and passion for Half-Life while making it their own. As for Xen... could care less. It's the worst part of HL, I'm glad Black Mesa currently ends right before going to Xen. Last time I played, I finished Black Mesa, jumped into the teleporter... then started up HL2 with the G-Man waking me up on the train. Felt like a smooth transition.
Thank you everyone for this thread. Without it I would not have known about the awesome that is Black Mesa. I feel like I'm 14 all over again... the wonders of hl1.. I'm playing this over BF4, FC3, AC4, CS:GO, D3, anything batman, etc.
Its absolutely superb, if i didn't have it already, id have happily paid for it when it came out retail, the guys have done a superb job.
Some stuff about the retail version posted by the Community Manager of the Black Mesa forums. He created the Surface Tension and On a Rail add-ons for the original mod release which lead to him becoming a developer on the BM team. http://forums.blackmesasource.com/i...iries-about-the-mod/?postID=599162#post599162 http://forums.blackmesasource.com/i...iries-about-the-mod/?postID=599432#post599432 http://forums.blackmesasource.com/i...s-information-about/?postID=600620#post600620
Agreed. I think two of the best stages in Half-Life were: Surface Tension On A Rail Followed by Questionable Ethics, Forget About Freeman & Lamba Core
