Here is the jist...

I have a Netgear RT314 Router, and I encountered a problem while in the configuration files.

I was in a tcp/ip part of the website based configuration setup. I tried to apply a certain setting (taking out an ip 192.168.0.1, and putting in the one the dhcp server gives me). After awhile, it wouldn't load, so I tried to cancel it. No can do. After that, I could not get access to my router through explorer.

I read up where you can hook up a db9 serial cable from the router to your computer to reset the properties back to factory settings.

Now, i got a serial cable hooked up to the router, and computer. I followed the instructions, and where it says "press any key to enter trouble shooting, you have 3 seconds" I cant (using hyperterminal program) It won't let me type anything in, or it wont accept commands either. After pressing enter like there was no tomarrow, the three seconds is up, and I try again. Still nothing. Now I don't know if its a hyperterminal problem, or what. All I need is hyperteminal to listen to my damn keyboard which it isnt doing right now.

I tried it in all different OS, same result came from hyperterminal.

I downloaded a new hyperterminal program, but all I can do is echo back the commands, the router isnt responding to my keyboard.

Any help is appreciated.
