Default 6800GT/NU/ultra voltage question - 10-06-2004, 13:14 | posts: 22 | Location: Poland

Hi all,

Mine ASUS V9999GT has 6800GT GPU with 700 DDR1 memory, and this is BIOS information:

$ffffffffff ---------------------------------------------------
$ffffffffff NVIDIA VGA BIOS information
$ffffffffff ---------------------------------------------------
$1100000000 Title : ASUS V9999GT VGA BIOS Version 5...
$1100000002 Version : 5.40.02.15
$1100000001 BMP version : 5.28
$1100000100 BIT version : 1.00
$1100010000 Perf. level 0 : 350MHz/350MHz/1.20V
$1100020000 VID bitmask : 00000011b
$1100020100 Voltage level 0 : 1.10V, VID 00000000b
$1100020101 Voltage level 1 : 1.20V, VID 00000001b
$1100020102 Voltage level 2 : 1.40V, VID 00000010b
$1100000003 GPU units mask : 16x1,6vp

This voltage is exactly like 6800NU and not 6800GT, like should be, but smartdoctor says Vcore = 1,37 Volt (like GT

What information BIOS gives ?

Any ideas ?

its because the asus V9999GT, isnt a true 6800GT, a true GT has 350 core and 1000mhz ddr3 memory, Asus V9999GT is a powered down version of the GT. GT core with the 16 pipelines, but it only has 128mb of ddr 1 Memory. its basicaly a non ultra card, with 16 pipelines, thats why it has the voltage of a non ultra (because it is a non ultra)

I looked at your info a little more in detail and it looks like your bios has volt reading of a 6800nu... Looks like a 6800nu that has been edited on the core speed

You should add your card to the 6800 hall of shame because the cost of your card is right there with a REAL 6800GT

You have a 6800GT 16x1 6vp with nu like 128mb ddr1 ram

my 3dmark03 is 10700 with a Standard EVGA 6800 128mb 382/774 16x1 6vp

BTW I paid 208.00 on the New Egg (Misadvertised and I scooped it up)

Here, in Poland, this card is priced almost like 6800NU
But I have full GT GPU for sure, without artifacts
memory isn't overcloked - 700MHz

My question is: why smartdoctor Vcore = 1,37 Volt, but BIOS info suggests that should be 1,2 ?

and:
xbitlabs.com says:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vi...nv-power_3.html

6800 - Vcore 1,22 V
6800 GT - 1,35 V
6800 ultra - 1,45 V

It looks like vcore is correct - like GT, but why BIOS info says 1,2 - like NU ?

Maybe Unwinder will say something about it ?

I am sure your memory is not overclocked. I have the EVGA 6800nu. Look at my bios info below and compare it to yours.

$ffffffffff ---------------------------------------------------
$0100000000 Graphics core : NV40 revision A1 (16x1,6vp)
$0100000001 Hardwired ID : 0041 (ROM strapped to 0041)
$0100000002 Memory bus : 256-bit
$0100000003 Memory type : DDR (RAM configuration 06)
$0100000004 Memory amount : 131072KB
$0100000005 Core clock : 382.500MHz
$0100000006 Memory clock : 384.750MHz (769.500MHz effective)

$010000000b HW masked units : pixel 0001b, vertex 001000b
$ffffffffff ---------------------------------------------------
$ffffffffff NVIDIA VGA BIOS information
$ffffffffff ---------------------------------------------------
$1100000000 Title : nv40 p212 sku0 VGA BIOS
$1100000002 Version : 5.40.02.12.01
$1100000001 BMP version : 5.28
$1100000100 BIT version : 1.00
$1100010000 Perf. level 0 : 325MHz/350MHz/1.20V
$1100020000 VID bitmask : 00000011b

Let me clear things up for you guys, since you don't seem to know what's happening here.

ASUS makes 5 versions of the 6800 series, instead of the usual 3, (4 if you count Mr. Non-existent GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition). These are.

1. V9999 GE: A normal 6800 Non-Ultra with 256MB DRR3 memory, for the price of a normal GT, normal 12 pipes, etc. (crazy for the price, ain't it?).

2. V9999 TD: A normal 6800 NU on an Ultra PCB.

3. V9999 GT/TD: A 6800 GT with 128MB DDR1 memory, instead of 256MB, it is also priced around like a normal 6800 NU, (Full blown 16 pipes, but half the memory and it's DDR1, and is also clocked at 700Mhz, this is a good product).

4. V9999 Ultra Deluxe: A 6800 Ultra with the GPU at 425 Mhz, 25Mhz more than a standard Ultra.

5. V9999 Ultra/2DT: A 6800 Ultra with a better fan, (pretty sure about this one).

Check them out here.

4. V9999 Ultra Deluxe: A normal 6800 Ultra.

Hmm, thank you for your effort but I knew this information before...
but I can help you :

1. V9999 GE - correct, and this model has PCB from Ultra !
4. V9999 Ultra Deluxe: A normal 6800 Ultra - not correct, GPU has 425 MHz, +25MHz more than ultra.

Back to mine question

Can anyone knows why?:

1. For mine V9999GT
It looks like vcore from smartdoctor is correct - like GT, but why BIOS info says 1,2 - like NU ?

2. Aha, and - V9999GE (6800NU with 256DDR3 and PCB ultra) has in BIOS info - perf level - 1,4V (like ultra?)

Maybe Bios info voltage perf level is related with PCB or memory ?
And not with GPU voltage?

It seems like ASUS just mistaken in voltage table
It it is the real reference design GT, it must contain the following voltage table:

$1100020000 VID bitmask : 00000011b
$1100020100 Voltage level 0 : 1.10V, VID 00000000b
$1100020101 Voltage level 1 : 1.30V, VID 00000010b
$1100020102 Voltage level 2 : 1.40V, VID 00000001b

So VID used in your case (00000001b) is actually mapped to 1.4V, if reference 6800GT voltage control scheme is used on the PCB. Probably they also altered reference scheme to something like

$1100020100 Voltage level 0 : 1.10V, VID 00000000b
$1100020101 Voltage level 1 : 1.30V, VID 00000001b
$1100020102 Voltage level 2 : 1.40V, VID 00000010b

Is that right Unwinder???

(00000001b) is actually mapped to 1.4V???

thought 00000001b was mapped to 1.20V

I have 6800nu and this is my core voltage
$1100010000 Perf. level 0 : 325MHz/350MHz/1.20V

A B S O L U T E L Y

What's a point of making totall mess of all discussions and applying info specific to _topic_creators_ GT to your NU?!?! Do you have GT with improper voltage table?!?! I simply cannot understand a reason of such postings....

He doesn't have a true GT. It is like a cross breed. He has 16pipes and 6vp with 350 core. His memory is 2.8ns memory like a NU.

Unwinder you should have a drink and unwind all this flaming is not called for

since it comes with 16x1,6vp and with a bios of a GT from factory, it is a GT, a less performing one yes (due to its mem), but also less expensive. if i bought a card now, this one would be it. no need to wonder about "will the softmod work". no. this is guaranteed, and tiny difference in price.

Thank you very much for your patient

It means that Bios information isn't related to the real voltage scheme ?

I think mine card has PCB from NU. Does it matter ?
