Thumbs up Doing Maya with 9800 Pro and FX5900 - which is best? - 08-23-2004, 04:11 | posts: 15 | Location: Sydney

Dear all,

I have been doing a bit of reading and research over the net + the forums here, there are heaps of information with different opinions which is rather confusing. Could any one kindly provide any non-bias help please?

I do a lot of Maya 5 rendering, Photoshop and occational gaming.

Currently I have a Dual MP1900+ on ASUS A7M266-D with a Wildcat II 5110 Video card.

I want to upgrade my video card, currently I have the following choices I can afford:

1. GeXcube 9800pro platinum 128mb
2. Leadtek Winfast 128MB A350 TDH FX5900 MyVIVO
3. MSI 256MB FX5900SP-VTD

I am considering a SOFTMOD to take the cards to FireGL for ATI and Quadro FX for Nvidia.

I have read that 5900XTs will not work with softmod. The Leadtek and MSI cards I have chosen above is not a XT? Can someone verify my statment??

Which would be a better choice to get in terms of performance for what I do mostly + less complex softmod process?

Thank you very much in advance.
