I'm asking too much and maybe at the wrong place too (still evacuated after the Dec shutdown?) but is 27.xx driver support for GF->Quadro coming any time soon?
Thanx for a great utility!
bye

Thanx for the quick reply.
No, I haven't tested since I don't have an expendable computer (don't have time to fix massive problems/re-installs).

1. The driver differs a lot from the older ones, all file-sizes are quite larger than older driver.
2. OpenGL bumped up from 1.30 to 1.31 but SPEC benches show large improvement->big changes in driver.
3. Driver requires total un-install of older driver since it's built differently, all new twinview stuff?

Maybe some brave soul would like to test?

bye

I've not tested SQ scripts with 27.xx yet. Are you sure that the scripts are not work properly?

ok then that means that the drivers were successfully patched? I mean, did you get all the pro options in there?

ok when I go to patch them, it says

Browsing for file nv4_mini.sys... selected 6.13.10.2700, 861133 bytes
WARNING: Certified patch script not found, using common patch script...
8b 86 00 03 00 00 e9 00 00 00 00 8b 86 00 01

which means that there must be another sequence changed in the drivers because what the patch used to change has already been changed by NVIDIA... why I don't know. Alex will probably figure it out... Our genius Unwinder. go go go

EDIT

Hmmm, I wonder if I could extract the most recenttly supported drivers by RivaTuner (the 23.11) to a folder and then replace the old "nv_oglnt.dll" with the new "nv_oglnt.dll" and then install them after patching with SoftQuadro... u know what?!!
I'm gonna go do it right now in my expendable windows 2000 installation. I hope i can boot into safe mode in case of a screw up and get everything to working again... and hopefully not f*uck up my card.

UPDATE

ok it seems to have broken open gl in windows 2000... I dont' know if this means that these drivers come with non working (broken) open gl components or that installing the 27.10 "nv_oglnt.dll" file with the 23.11 drivers broke it... I guess i'll test it some more later on. ok bi bi now i must get some sleep

This message was edited by efishta on 25 Jan 2002 06:24 AM

I've just created updated SoftQuado patch for 27.xx (the previous WILL NOT work), but it looks like NV had implemented protection againg.
Probably I'll discontinue SoftQuado scripts coz I'm really tired of endless protection/antiprotection chase.

Here is the piece of RivaTuner 2.0 RC10 documentation (I'll publish it few hours later):

"SoftQuadro scripts are no longer supported and will not work with the Detonator 27.xx. The reason is that NVIDIA has implemented SoftQuadro protection again and I do tired of endless protection/antiprotection chase and it eats a lot of my time. Probably I'll bring you SoftQuadro 2.0 scripts once againg, but now I'm concentrated on adding ATI Radeon 8500 support to RivaTuner and it is the primary task in my plan for today."

Can't say anything about SQ 2.0 arrival date. Probably tomorrow, probably never.
Pleez update the SoftQuadro scripts, at least for W2K 27.20, one driver is enough, no need to work through them all.
It's the one and only unique function RivaTuner has over other utilities that makes it #1 in the world.
Please don't turn it to YATU (Yet Another Tweak Utility). The ATI crowd probably already have what they need (well I don't know, just trying to sell my point).

Right now Nvidia doesn't even have an official driver version from 27.xx so all this talk seems premature to me.

!!!!!!!This is for 27.42 9x driver!!!!!!!

1. download driver again.
2. change files(nvagp.inf, and softquadro patch)
3. reinstall driver...
4. !!!use previous version of rivatuner(I think rc2 or 3 is best)!!!
5. use DisableOSCheck.reg file...
6. opengl button, miscellaneous tab, and check 'Enable Hardware Accelerated Lines'.
7. now you have quadro!!!

Here it is!!! Use hex editor as ultraedit, etc...

At nvcore.vxd:
you may find
000417a0 5e ff ff ff 8b 86 94 03 00 00
Replace last 6 bytes with things in 'softquadro script' last dst#s.

Dst0_0 = B8 08 E7 05 00 90
Dst0_1 = B8 08 EC 05 00 90
Dst0_2 = B8 08 EF 05 00 90
Dst0_3 = B8 08 EF 06 00 90

At nvopengl.dll:
you may find
00067a50h 87 88 00 00 00 8b 88 00 04 00 00
replace last 6 bytes with things in 'antiprotection script' last dst#s.

Dst0 = B9 DE 10 03 01 90

wait, i forgot something... you have to change nvagp.inf file differently depends on your card.
remember your card's device id(in rivatuner graphic card report), and add GL after it's model name

%NVIDIA&DEV_0100.DeviceDesc%=NV10GL,PCI\VEN_10DE&D EV_0100
DEV_XXXX : Device id
NVXX : Model name

(i have geforce 256... what an ancient card... lol)
Does the detonator driver version matter that much if you are patching them to be Quadro's? I mean what kind of performance difference in openGL will you get, isnt this enhanced to maximum by softquadro?

Also, nice one kamian, i would give it a try but i just finished downloading the 21.85's so i am off to try them. And all that coding scares me
