    Three Ethernet ports?

I wonder why they decided to have three Ethernet ports instead of more USB ports? Just seems odd to me.

I have to agree with your assessment, the most Ethernet ports on a motherboard I have seen in the past was two and that was on a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard.

It's funny... cause A) i didn't even notice the 3 ethernet ports until i read his comment pointing it out, and B) I believe i actually used to have that exact motherboard. haha

But... i thought two ethernet ports was still fairly normal. I must have missed when that stopped being a thing.

Can we just get a single 10Gbit ethernet port?

It might be easier to go 2.5/5Gbit first. One Gigabit, one 2.5 or 5Gbit.
Even if the switch's don't exist in the right price range yet, a direct connection would still be good for a dedicated Storage box.

Yeah 10Gbit chips are still mighty expensive and most people wouldn't use it, so while it sounds nice on a spec sheet, its not good for much more then that.

2.5 or 5 might be nice, its heaps cheaper, although probably suffers the same problem of basically being just spec fluff which 99% of all people don't use.

I'll buy it instantly because I'm a high-end motherboard whore. I have a MSI X99A Godlike Gaming, a X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon, and a Asus Rampage V Edition 10 (which I'm currently using). I'm actually looking to sell both the original Godlike Gaming and Godlike Gaming Carbon.

And all I know is that this new X299 Godlike BETTER have a neutral color like matte black or dark grey and NOT bright ass red!!
