A lot has been said and spoken about on the refresh that is pending from AMD, the lineup for the 570 adn 580 mainly is a Polaris respin. New information has surfaced, including 3DMark Fire Strike Ext...

How does the 570 hit 480 performance, while it's slower in every measurable aspect, while carrying a cut down chip?

Isn't the difference mostly drivers and the rest of the system? The 580 looks like properly made/binned Polaris 10, same for the rest. Which means that if they come at the same price as the current Polaris parts, anything below the 1070 is pretty much obsolete.

Still holding out hope for a larger Polaris (590?).

If AMD had a larger polaris they would have launched it months ago to cover the gap for Vega, don't you think?

If the speculation holds up, I'm so gonna get a RX570 :nerd:

It makes no sense to have a larger Polaris.

Why not? I though there will be a 2560 Sp's Polaris at some point.

Where would a large Polaris even slot against Vega? I'd rather just have Vega and leave Polaris for the low end. That or just have Vega scale all the way down, but I don't think AMD needs to do that - they have no problems competing at the low end with Polaris currently.

Looks like decent gains overall. I wonder if there's any room for additional overclocking?

I cannot confirm or deny that.

It's simply a selfish desire of mine. I'd like to see something around 3000 shaders, 44 ROPs with a 384bit bus and 6-12GB 8000MHz GDDR5.

Honestly they missed the boat on it though. They put all their hopes on Vega. Hope it delivers. If Vega does not match GP102 in DX12 this forum will turn into a **** show.

It makes no sense in the larger scheme of things. Polaris is a stopgap until Vega, which is the actually big architectural shift. There is no need for further investment in it. I'm not even sure that Polaris would have been made at all, if Sony didn't need something for the PS4 Pro.

This sounds like a middle/lower end Vega. The whole thing about their memory controller is that it can even use network storage. It will be a piece of cake for them to make a card like that.

If I had to guess, Vega will be around 1080 performance.

Polaris was just taking advantage of 14nm with something, because (for me) the 3xx disappointed too much. Vega has taken it's time but price/performance will sure be there. As usual, I bet most will say: "if it doesn't beat the best it sucks".

Thank god RX 580 is out of 1070 range!

Else they wouldn't even bother releasing 1080 competitor and we would be stuck with this beefed up Polaris and super-high-end Vega.

Just by clocks alone, it will be faster than the 1080. The big Vega in it's worst possible performance scenario, is a Fury X at 1.5GHz with 8GB of memory.

So the bet is that Scorpio is Polaris and not Vega?

Look, for once I will take this chart with a very, very small grain of salt.... there is just no way that the RX 580 will hit 1500Mhz... even when you put the best gpu (full polaris) with the best vrm, then you still will not hit 1500Mhz. Unless we talk ln2.
