Just got a Sony Bravia 49xd8088. I have it connected to my PC which has the following graphics adapter, AMD Radeon HD 8670D + HD 7000 Dual Graphics Now I think that card does output to 4k, and the TV itself is 4k, but I cant make it work. The HDR seems to work, but it wont activate 4k. When you look at the info for the source it says 1080p and thats the maximum resolution the PC seems to go to. Anyone have any ideas? I'm using an HDMI 2.0 cable and all my drivers are up to date.
I've got my Philips 4K TV connected to PC via HDMI and it indeed output 4K but only at 30Hz as the limitation of my HD7870 + HDR is not compatible on this graphic card, so yeah you should be able to get it also. But don't expect it to work flawesly, personally I use it at 1080p/60Hz, and leave the 4K/60Hz+HDR goodies for future when I get my hands on new GPU. 4K/30Hz is no-go believe me, even motion of mouse is un-nature/unusable.
Think the main issue might be that the PC is just seeing the TV as a generic monitor. Is there any way to rectify that? If I cant get the pc to identify the tv as 4k ready, would a new graphics card not help things?
the HDMI port on those cards are probably pre-1.4/2.0 and don't do the bandwidth. Try using a DP1.2b to HDMI 2.0 active converter. Also make sure the DP ports are not 1.0/1.1, else you are already screwed.
