Well, Windows 8.1/U1 has broken 3DVision with SLi on many games when Vsync is enabled, leading to crap framerates.
    So I'd say Windows 8.

Apart from that, performances are pretty much the same without 3D enabled.

anyone have benchmarks to comparisons? because always users says with windows 8.1 have more performance but in all benchs shows same or worse than windows 7 except in bf4 and splinter cell blacklist... unique two games in dx11.2 yet

This is a bit of a redundant question for most people because they'll be playing games and using the drivers on whatever version of Windows 8 they'll have installed. I can't see many people bothering to roll back just to test whether a driver runs 1 FPS higher...or not!

Besides, why would Windows 8.1 run worse than Windows 8 anyway? At a guess I'd say Windows 8.1 is likely to have more optimisations than the older Windows 8 and therefore inclined to run better but, at worse, I'd expect it to run exactly the same. In other words, there is no reason not to install Windows 8.1 and Update 1 if you're using Windows 8. IMO.

Since you won´t get updates on 8, isnt this point moot?

Win 8.1 is perfect. Win 8 was a bit more problematic.

Also i haven't had any problems with software or hardware ,and haven't had a to a fresh install of 8.1 since i installed over 8 months ago .

MS didn't state that. MS stated that Windows8.1 (pre-U1) would no longer receive updates, but Windows8 would.

So how come I still get updates on Patch Tuesday and various other ones (e.g. IE Flash ActiveX) throughout the month for W8 Pro x64?

I would love to try Win 8, but this Win 7 install is just rock solid at the moment.

I would assume the latest is always the best route, if not, stay with Win 7.

I dream of sugar plum fairies & Win 8 without metro. Windows 8 Home Basic Light Version for Whiners.

If I'm not mistaken Update 1 is a bigger optimization over 8.1 than 8.1 is over 8.

Dude, you have a 3770k. You could run ClassicShell with 0 latency if Metro bothers you so much. And 8 is where the performance is, especially in threading.
