That`s not only good news for the company but also to the end user. More profit equals more funds for the R&D department which equals better products which equals higher competition. Let`s hope AMD`s next generation processors will have a same effect.

Don't go hard on Nvidia, AMD!
    meh...

My ideal video card market share :
    AMD : 49.99999%
    Nvdia : 49.99999%
Intel : 0.0000...000001% (user who dont own "real" video card)

Finaly, give Nvidia 20% or less, enough of those high prices. time to let people have nice stuff for less money. AMD+ATI rulzz

    AMD + ATI = <3

but ... ATI was devoured by AMD in 2006. So it just AMD now...

The market is changing so fast these days, I think to make a market prediction like this is a matter of throwing the dice.

An ideal market needs more than 2 competitors. That's a huge reason why the CPU/GPU industries are so stale.

I hope amd can beat NVidia they have been ridiculous with the last few series gouging and limiting voltages etc. Basically they've been ****ting on the enthusiasts.

Wonder what you thought about Fermi?

Also the drivers in my experience have been the same as my Geforce experience...zero issues.

my 580`s ran pretty cool with good overclock. original fermi was the ones that ran hot, not the 500 series. even my 480 ran cooler than the 290x on the stock cooler. it hovered around 88c full load in summer. and both did not throttle due to heat

Speak for yourself, ever since I have had my 7970 I have had ZERO driver issues.

When I had my GTX480 guess what I had ZERO driver issues.

When I had my 4870x2 I had driver issues for five months and had to use TwL's modified drivers which were phenomenal.

When I had my 8800GTX I had to skip nearly every other driver release due to Nvidia fixing 2 things and breaking 10 others.

Truth is BOTH sides have problems with their drivers from time to time.

AMD for the most part now ever since 12.11 never settle launch their drivers have been excellent, their frame pacing drivers have been excellent.

Their new R9 290x, does it run hot sure it does. Was it designed to run hot sure it was! Don't like the heat make a custom fan profile or lower the thermal threshold. Does it overclock well, not really, but consider this its on the same 28nm process and they have crammed A LOT into it. Sure it going to run hot.

Maybe now with some decent market share and some decent money being pumped back into R&D we will see AMD's reference GPU's coming with better coolers much like the excellent ones on the 780 and Titan.

AMD have bet big with the next gen consoles, they have bet big with cheap, affordable APU's for the average consumer and its paid off. Now those profits can be pumped back into their high end segment for their next architecture which they will then filter down to their lower products such as APU's.

My 480 was a beast, I slapped on an Arctic Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler onto it, cranked the near silent fans up to 12v, pumped 1.2v through the GPU and I got that puppy up to 850/1700/2000 easily and temps were never over 65c in the summer heat, normally around 56-60c after a long time gaming. I think I either had a great chip or that cooler was just beastly. Bit of both I think.

Mine was stock cooler. It was in my bu rig that I hardly used. So I didnt really care about temps much
