I knew you were. I was taking the joke..

Yeah because some people can afford it.

I paid roughly 1700 for two titans like 10 months ago, had 300 evga bucks. I generally buy the best when the opportunity comes. Never settle for less *cough*

Cheapest 7950 in the US (that's available to everyone), is $260 (unless you're looking at Newegg sales, then it's the reference based MSI card in my sig at $210 that has a regular price of $280).

But, I'm sure having places like the city I live in where the average pay is only barely above the cost of living has no impact on pricing. Nor does the fact that our economy is just barely hanging on.

Mandated minimum wage in the US is $7.25/hr. Our "cost of living" vs income is ridiculous in a lot of places.

Our sales tax varies from state to state (and in some cases, city to city). The prices you guys see for us, is a good bit lower than what we actually pay. Since tax rates vary from state to state, you don't see what we all pay in tax.

    I never pay tax :wanker:

Maybe I'd consider it if local stores actually stocked things I want to buy.

Bill passed requiring etailers to collect state sales tax for all states. Not sure when it was supposed to go into effect though.

For me, it's not a matter of them stocking things I want to buy. It's them putting reasonable prices on those things. My local BestBuy likes trying to rip people off. They got the HD7750 for $180 and HD7770 for $230...

That's because they know who their customers are. Children with no clue.

OMG cry me a river of tears....dude I lived there for 10 years, half my family are from Michigan, actually my sister is in Canada right now working at Whistler.

I know exactly how it is, and it's not how you make it sound. If you really believe it's that bad you ought to go overseas and see how the other half struggle.
Spain is so broke the Government can't afford to fix the national rail system....Greece and SA have over 25% unemployment...in NZ we pay $6.60 a gallon for petrol and my last visit to the dentist cost $240 for 1 filling. I also need an implant which is gonna cost $6200.

And employers don't provide benefits, the only one that does is Fonterra Dairy Corporation, who are NZ's biggest company and have their own union. Since they also happen to be the worlds largest supplier of milk products they can probably afford it.... but unions are almost unheard of here tbh so benefits are rare.

Seriously u guys have got it good compared to other countries, sure NY and Jersey are high tax states but they aren't representative of the whole 48.

And don't forget when the US suffers so does the rest of the western world......

my initial feeling is the 780 isnt that far off a 290x, just the price is wrong.

cmon nvidia lower em!!! (or you will lose a customer).

p.s i'd be annoyed to be a Titan/780 owner having paid what seems to me £100 too much, which I always thought was the case and hence why I didnt buy a 780 ..also perhaps lucky the 770 i received was a dud..(that was def an impulse buy).

Just check the reviews. A pre-OC 780@1033-1058 beets the "stock" 1Ghz 290X in almost everything.

But if the custom coolers were to be released sooner and not November/December I would had gone with the Red team this time after owning a 680 and a 690 from team Green.

will be good to see some gurus results on air/water when they get their 290's...overclock.net seems to be quite a few but none here yet...

I'm surprised most of those holding off for a custom 290x haven't just bought a reference card and one of the confirmed compatible coolers.

Its not the hassle in my case(for some is ofc), but most shops probably they would look it as an excuse to avoid warranty IF something goes wrong..

yep. I actually think AMD have blundered with the card's noise and heat...how bigtime that's hard to say...

no way would I buy a stock 290x with a reference cooler, i'd rather pay the extra for a 780...

but shush dont tell nvidia that..

As long as no void if seal is broken stickers are in the way I'd not worry about it. I didn't think twice about sticking my waterblocks on as there were none of these. If one fails slap the oem cooler back on and send her in.

Reported to Nvidia thaey said they would raise the price just for you lol

Just a heads up; for anyone thinking about overclocking vram it appears some AIB cards are using Elpida EDW2032BBBG chips, 6GHz on 280 and 5GHz on 290.
