lol seriously? im pretty sure the 95c came from running furmark (which is unrealistic) at a fan speed of 50% or less and how long for?. If i ran furmark on my 7970 @50% fan speed for long enough it would probably hit 95c also. Theres no doubt it will run hotter than the 7970, thats not rocket science, i guess the issue for some people will be noise. Personally for me ill just throw it under a waterblock and be done with it.

The 95c part comes from AMD apparently, someone who was in Montreal and spoke to AMD about the cards.

I hope it's not this hot, no matter how stable they say it will be.
Apart from not wanting something that hot in my PC, we will all likely be subjected to all the Fermi grilling jokes all over again.

I didn't understand it then, and I still don't understand it now. After seeing how hot an HD4850 got with the reference single-slot cooler, how exactly was it that AMD could say anything about the heat output of the Fermi cards? My HD4850, with it's reference cooler, idled at 85C and peaked at 105-110C under load (playing WoW and FarCry). Seems to me that the reference HD4850s were getting much hotter than any of the Fermi cards.

Lol, I used to have one 6970 and it kept my room toasty also and I live in freaking Alaska now. Loving the new card though.

That's nothing - Go5700 default drivers had the clockdown temp at 135 C and latter drivers "just" 125 C - my card fried in 11 months...

Very impressive results, I'm assuming the 3gb on the 780 is struggling.

Anyone else getting bored of the 4k benchmarks though?
It's interesting to see but it's hard to get excited when the end user experience will be 30fps max.

Hopefully we will see resolutions people use soon, probably not until nda is lifted though.

Don't think it's that much of a dream, the 780 is 650 USD and AMD are saying they are going up against the 780 and we would be pleased with the price.

Im getting bored with the whole thing tbh, i wish they'd just stop pi$$ing about and release the damn things, they've probably lost a load of sales to Nvidia with this **** on.

I can't see any point at all in waiting till BF4 is released, as thats not going to make any difference to the sales of the damn things is it, as if people are going to buy the cards with BF4, why not let them buy the cards now, and then buy BF4 when it comes out, instead of making them wait to get both at the same time.

Its a total farce, all this poxy showing of the cards at hotels and what not, just release the damn things fgs, what the hell are you scared of, is it crap or something!.

Yeah me too, and all they show is this 4K bs..

Im not interested in 20-45fps at that reso. i want to know how it runs at 1080p preferably 60fps+ in any game, including Crysis3..

It's not even 20-45fps at 4k, since it's only HDMI 1.4 it's limited to 30hz, even if you crossfire these cards for 40-90fps your still only get 30 because of the connection used.

Isnt that only if you use vsync ? would the tearing be even more then at lower resolutions ?

    Yeah even worse..

That's why I would really like to see what's happening at something like 1920x1200.

Not 100% sure what you mean?
I just meant I didn't understand why AMD were pushing 4k when the cards were never going to output more than 30hz, even in crossfire.

100 fps at 30hz will look no better than 30fps at 30hz, probably look worse.

No idea if the tearing would be worse, though from what I've heard there was a lot less tearing than on the GTX 780.

Yeah the 4K benching is annoying. I think they're just showing these because compared to the 3gb 780's, the 290x's shine (if you can call those sub 60 fps numbers that).

Lol @pbvider's advert. I'm an equal opportunity troller, so I like to see fun being poked at both AMD and Nvidia.

And enough with the shenanigans, AMD. Just release the pos at a competitive price. I'm sure it'll perform just fine. Then people will respect you for bringing good performance at a reasonable price.

    WTF????, thats insane

Haha, i thought i was bad, but if you thought its toasty there lol

Agree completely, this is a bit of a joke, showing the 290X at a resolution that will gimp the 780 just because of VRAM, utter crap. Tbh im more thinking this is going to be a stinker card backed by a load of hype, if it was destroying the competition it would be a card that would have been played already.
