i am looking at some raid controlers on newegg and i see SATA/SAS 8 Internal Ports Kit "comes with cables" . and SATA/SAS 4 Internal Ports "no calbes" on newegg but on the dada sheet they look the same... what is the deal with the 4 missing ports?

I understand your confusion, it is not very clear.
The raid cards you are looking at don't have 4 or 8 slots... They have the ability to control 4 or 8 ssd's. You use a 4 to one cable to connect to the 4 ssd's and the one for the raid card. The difference between them is one raid card has one 4 ssd controller slot and the other has 2. It seems like the raid card comes with the necessay cables. Remember to fully read the detailed instal instruction, as they vary from one manufacturer to another. May I also recomend you install the raid card and driver in a working system to make sure they work. |
