Thumbs up Hybrid PhysX Update Batman/Alice (ATi+nVidia) works finally! - 08-28-2012, 05:54 | posts: 6

Hi,

In case you didn't know Hybrid PhysX didn't work since 11/11 drivers in Alice2, Batman2, or FluidMark 1.4/5, until now:

Fulfilling many requests, I post here to share a patch to run these games with latest driver(s) on AMD/ATI GPU with additional/secondary 256MB+ GeForce8000+ and 32/64bit Win XP/7/8 but NOT Vista!

Main "Hybrid PhysX" thread, see here : http://208.43.146.86/graphic-cards/2...85-solved.html

1. run this file#1 before you install GeForce+PhysX
2.Direct Download file#2 here FREE

if only i had an nv card to test, but i'm also vista... how come it works on xp & 7?

i also wonder, what happens when you pair really powerful cards, 7970+gtx570/580/670/680... (or just 2x gtx cards with 1 for physx), can you max physx things out or will you hit some cpu limits?

It's because xp and 7 use a different driver model that allows multiple display drivers.

Vista doesn't support WDDM 1.1 which seems to be needed for Hybrids.

I don't see any .ini tweaks that increase the PhysX effect levels for Batman AC like you can do with Alice2. So basically you can only set PhysX to high.

Anything over a GTX260 is overkill and you will only see a couple more fps from the benchmarks I have seen. 216 cores is plenty for Batman AC and that is the most hardcore PhysX game currently, BorderLands2/Hitman5 aren't out yet. You might see an increase in FluidMark, can anyone get higher than 38SPS without a GTX680?

GTX580: 300pts 25fps
Me(5870+GTX260-216): 428pts 33-36fps
GTX680: 530pts 44fps

FluidMark1.5+FXAA+SMAA settings
FullScreen,GPU,N2O,1080p,8X MSAA,More,Multicore(uncheck multithread for a sec to enable),MultiThread,Async,7emitters-120000particles

In FluidMark1.5 with 306.02: I got 1 extra physics pt which gave me 1 extra SPS and two extra score pts, my FPS went down 3 from 305.53, but hard to tell since FluidMark is so unreliable (different # of sims/frames between runs) but I would assume they fixed some bugs, so it shouldn't hurt but probably not noticeable in games unless you have a faster PPU than yours is (like a GTX680's bigger perf. margins)

Just remember to rerun the Hybridiz.exe after you upgrade the driver(s) or your PC will crash when the game (not FluidMark, though) starts!

Is there a specific way things need to be removed to "unhybridise" the system?

Can anyone recommend me a GTX card for physx to use with my 7970. I was told if I dont buy a dx11 card for physx, my 7970 wont be able to use dx11. Is this true? Please and thanks.

My guess GTX 450/550 should do fine. But remember that hybrid PhysX is not officially supported.

If you're thinking Borderlands, wait and see how it goes for other users.

That only happened to me in Batman AC and only when I extended the desktop on the PhysX card.

IF I get one I'm looking in the ways of this: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-2...eywords=GT+640

Seems well priced. almost 400 cuda cores should be enough for dedicated physx right? Its not like it has to render too. And on top of that I convert videos on and off to watch on my android phone. Cuda would convert them fast as hell.

Awesome, so there is hope for me being able to play Borderlands 2 with Physx. I need to look for a GTX460.

a 9800GT should work to if you have one of those laying around. If I recalled Vram size help alot. So it even a plus if you have a 1GB laying around. I do my self but I haven't been using it. Because I cant use Lucid MVP Virtu HF/VSS if I slapped another card in for phsyx.

I wonder if Hybrid phsyx works in windows 8?

Thank you for reminding us of this mod. The mod works for various games including Batman AC, Batman Asylum, Cryostasis, and Mafia 2 in my setup (HD5870x2+GT9800). I confirmed the activity of GT9800 by Afterburner. So far I cannot use this mod for Fluidmark v1.31 (GT9800 doesn't wake up according to Afterburner). However the mod brilliantly works for Fluidmark v1.2, 1.4, and 1.5.

Um, you don't get much CPU usage in BorderLands2 anymore even on PhysX High with six cores ~10%
Quote:

uninstall physx?
Quote:

WinXp requires extended desktop, win7/8 doesn't so you can use any DX version card

AMD Stream is faster, but Rockplayer app needs no converts
Quote:

Shader count is relevant, RAM size is not, 256M is min., but games barely use that much

yes

delete all physx* an cuda* except for PhysXcore.dll from fluid dir

Just thrown in an old BFG 250 gts along side my 7970 to test this out in BtM AC....

Fantastic results!

Now i just want to try and play with the 250's core/fan to see how low i can get it before it effects the performance of physX
