Never thought I'd say this (after Far Cry 2), but that looks awesome! Does it come with always-on DRM?

Judging from all the videos it really looks like there's a whole lot of awesome stuff to do on the island(s) when taking a break from the campaign.

I need a demo to make my decision. Far Cry 2 left a very bad taste in my mouth and I'm not going to spend $60 on another piece of crap like that again.

mate the only thing irritating in far cry 2 is that it takes long time to get to the objective sometimes and enemies respawn on crossroads, other than that i loved every bit of it, and no one has the right to say it was a bad game, every game has some flaws, but that doesn;t mean it's not great.

Matter of taste i guess.
For me, the whole game felt kinda mis-paced.
Overall it was a great game, yes... but the little things made it kinda annoying towards the end.

I loved farcry 2,it was only the re-spawning checkpoints that was annoying,i got so fed up of them that i just drove threw them in the end,the game looked great maxed out on 2x280s in sli at the time, constant 60fps at 1920*1080 back in late 2008.

yeah the dunia engine is great, when i first played the game, i had a 8600 gt, and it ran fine on high settings dx9, plus the tweaks also, so one of the few good looking fps games that were optimized.

Dunia was/is a great engine that I wish would see more widespread use... very easy (comparatively) on systems and looks as good as almost any other engine today, 4 years after FC2.

I loved the combat in FarCry 2, and the engine.
But... the respawning enemies, terrible voice acting and dialog... endless amounts of tedious driving.
Copy and paste missions, lack of interesting or involving characters or anything that looks like an engaging story...
FarCry 2 was a good concept that completely missed it's mark.
FarCry 3 looks to be on track to fix what the previous game did wrong. The majority of the things I have a problem with in FC2 are things I noticed in trailers and previews.

Yeah hopefully 3 will fix all the annoying things about 2,i think it will as the devs have had plenty of feedback about fc2 and how they could have fixed it.
I hope they bring back the custom made maps that fc2 had, making your own maps was great, spent many hrs burning the midnight oil playing those like capture the diamond.

"Yeah looked mega vibrant and reminded me of the first Far Cry visually but with a 2011 look"
Imho the 1st FC looked TOO candy color vibrant. But it had the setting in the vis applet area that allowed us to tone that down to give it a more realistic look. Really hope FC 3 has the same setting.
